Seth Rogen says ‘the weirdest audition’ he ever had was for Eminem’s 2002 biopic 8 Mile

Seth Rogen said that ‘the weirdest audition [he] ever did’ was for the 2002 Eminem biopic 8 Mile.

The 39-year-old actor, said in his new book Yearbook that he had auditioned for the role of Cheddar Bob, who Evan Jones went on to play in the film, according to The Wrap.

The Vancouver native said that the film’s casting director asked auditioning actors to bring a friend to exchange dialogue with, in reaction to the rap-inspired script.

The latest: Seth Rogen, 39, said that ‘the weirdest audition [he] ever did’ was for the 2002 Eminem biopic 8 Mile, as he couldn’t stop laughing due to the dialogue. Rogen was snapped in LA in 2019

Rogen said the idea was ‘f***ing nuts’ and had his one-time co-star Freaks & Geeks Jason Segel exchange the lines with him, not knowing Segel was also trying out for the part.

‘We asked our agents if our auditions could be scheduled one right after the other, so that one of us could audition for Cheddar, with the other reading the Rabbit part, and then we’d switch.

‘We had a sleepover at my apartment the night before the auditions so we could rehearse and then carpooled to the audition together.’

Rogen said that he and Segel were amused by some of the verbiage in the script, with lines such as ‘Yo, yo, mothaf***a! It’s Chedda! What up, b****!’

Rogen said he and Segel ‘started laughing hysterically’ and ‘literally couldn’t make it through the auditions.

‘As soon as one of us started the scene, the other would lose it,’ he said. ‘It was so silly, we couldn’t finish. We just excused ourselves and saw ourselves out, tears streaming down our faces.’

He recalled: ‘Auditioning is embarrassing in the best of times. Add the fact that one of my best friends is watching me do it and that we’re both reading for rappers from Detroit, which we could not have been less right for.’
