The clip – which was posted on TikTok – shows three officers at the garage as the white car speeds past them in reverse and rams into their van.

As it drives off the police, one of whom is carrying his baton in one hand, walk out into the street, apparently unable to pursue the car because of the damage to their vehicle.

One of the men from the garage is then seen remonstrating with the officers who tell him to ‘calm down’.

Some reports claimed there had been a dispute over payment for tyres, prompting the police to be called.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘At 4.50pm on Tuesday, February 16, officers were in the Possil Road area as part of enquiries to trace a vehicle.

‘A police van was damaged after it was driven into by the suspect vehicle several times. No-one was injured.

‘The driver fled the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the individual and the vehicle.’
