Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime North (Trident) are investigating, led by Detective Inspector Matt Webb.

He said: ‘Our investigation into this terrible crime continues at pace. We have spoken to a number of people and been contacted by local residents who have been disgusted by this horrific incident and have wanted to share with us what they know.

‘I would like to thank those people, and reassure them that we are working 24/7 and will stop at nothing to find the person or persons who left this woman so seriously injured.

‘At this stage in our enquiries we believe that approximately ten people were together in Broadway Market, E8 about ten minutes before this offence occurred. It appears the group were being filmed for the purposes of a music video, with professional looking camera equipment.

‘It then appears that the group have become involved in an altercation with another group of people who arrived at the scene – during this incident one of the groups produced and discharged a firearm – both groups then fled the scene.

‘The victim was an innocent bystander and left seriously injured in the street. She was assisted by members of the public before police began first aid prior to the arrival of LAS.

‘Police must work with communities to catch criminals and this incident is an example of how important that is right now. Someone knows who did this; I say to those people, please do not help violent criminals by remaining silent.

Today the business owner, whose security footage caught the youths filming their rap video at 8.48pm, just two minutes before the shooting, told MailOnline: ‘The street was fairly quiet at that time of day but there was this sudden blast of loud music.

‘I looked out the window and there was about 10-12 youths, most of them masking their faces, who were being filmed for a rap video.

‘One of them had a pretty professional looking camera and he was filming his friends as they walked up past shops on Broadway Market.

‘At one point they tried to get into the Costcutter over the road but the shop staff stopped them from going in.

‘They were hanging around outside there for a few seconds and then continued up the road towards the Cat & Mutton pub, where the shooting happened about two minutes later.

‘Some of the youths came running back down the street and dispersed in different directions before the police and paramedics arrived.

‘I only found out later that a poor girl who had been standing minding her own business was shot and left fighting for life.’

A shop worker at Costcutter who denied the youths entry told MailOnline: ‘They were trying to film inside the shop but I didn’t want to let them in as we didn’t want any trouble. ‘They were rappers and were making some sort of music video.’

Earlier today police responded to reports of another shooting in the area.

Police were called at approximately 2.20pm on Tuesday, 24 November to reports a firearm discharge in Hoxton Street, N1. Officers attended the scene – no reported injuries at this time. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
