Supernatural resumes production in Vancouver on its final two episodes

The CW’s fantasy–thriller series Supernatural began shooting the rest of its final season on Tuesday.

The long-running show only has two episodes that weren’t able to be completed prior to Hollywood’s coronavirus shutdown, according to Deadline.

Filming resumed in Vancouver, where the area’s relatively modest COVID-19 rates have allowed film crews to resume working with new safety measures.

Back at it:The CW series Supernatural resumed filming its 15th and final season in Vancouver on Tuesday, according to Deadline, making it one of the first TV shows to resume production

In order for production to resume, Warners Bros. TV, which produces the show, made a deal with local unions to restart the show.

The 15th and final season was always intended to have 20 episodes, which began airing in October 2019, but after production halted, The CW opted to hold back seven episodes, including the two left to be shot.

On Monday, the network announced that the last mini season would premiere on October 8, almost a year after the 15th season premiere.

So far, only Netflix’s Midnight Mass has resumed filming in Vancouver, though ABC’s The Good Doctor is expected to resume within the next two weeks.

Supernatural is the first title from Warner Bros. TV to start shooting again.

Shut down: Production was halted in March due to the pandemic, with only two episodes to go. The last seven were held back for a mini season to premiere in October; still from Supernatural

Padalecki will be sticking with The CW for Walker, a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger.

The CBS series originally starred Chuck Norris and aired from 1993 through 2001.
