Gentleman Jack is centred on Suranne’s character Anne and her love Ann Walker, played by Sophie Rundle, 32, in the BBC period drama.

Sophie has reportedly also returned to filming after announcing her pregnancy in February.

Suranne donned a long black skirt with multiple overcoats as she walked through the woods on camera.

She carried her infamous top hat in hand as she filmed the new episodes of the acclaimed series.

The popular series is set in Yorkshire in 1834 and is based on the real life diaries of English landowner and diarist Lister.

The first season of the show saw the couple torn apart when Ann was taken to Scotland, under threat of being married off by her brother-in-law.

But by the finale, the pair came back together when the philanthropist was called back to Yorkshire to visit her bedridden aunt.

Their reunion took place in a dramatic hilltop moment when Ann revealed she was finally ready to marry Anne.

Suranne often uses her platform to promote LGBT+ equality, so much so that the star was awarded The British LGBT Awards’ Celebrity Ally prize during November’s ceremony.

Appearing via videolink, Suranne gave an emotional acceptance speech while in full costume.

She said: ‘I just want to say a huge thank you. I am so thrilled and honoured to receive the Ally Of The Year Award.

‘It’s so special to be accepted by your community, and for me to stand by your side and be part of your community.

‘I’m really touched. It’s just a wonderful, wonderful award to receive. And I will continue to be your ally for as long as you’ll have me…

‘I know we can’t all be together but it’s so important that these awards go on, and that the nominees are honoured and a light is shone upon them in this way.’

And the cast of Gentleman Jack appear to be having a laugh while filming the hotly anticipated second series of the show.

Last month, Suranne gave her co-stars and crew a fight when she turned up on set in a shocking blue de-puffing face mask.

The actress joked at the time that she was ‘scaring people at work’ and looked like a character from James Cameron’s Avatar as she posted a pouty snap to her Instagram page.

She explained her husband Laurence Akers had gifted her the beauty product – the Sub-Zero De-Puffing Energy Mask from 111 Skin – after she complained her face looked tired, and headed off to work with the mask still on.
