Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker celebrates as the band’s biggest hit reaches one billion streams – after welcoming baby daughter

Tame Impala’s hit song The Less I Know the Better has surpassed one billion streams. 

Frontman Kevin Parker, 35, celebrated the success of the 2015 single when he received APRA AMCOS’ The 1,000,000,000 List award in Sydney, thanking fans.

He said: ‘I owe APRA a lot, thank you everyone, this means a lot. Thanks for supporting me.’

At the event, which was held on Saturday, he also explained the song was originally intended for producer Mark Ronson.

‘During the recording session, I was working myself up to tell him I was going to take it back,’ Kevin said of the song, which appears on Tame Impala’s third album Currents, released in 2015. 

It comes after the performer welcomed his first child with his wife, Sophie Lawrence.

The pair revealed they were expecting a baby in November, with the little one due in January. 

In April, Sophie shared a photo of the couple’s baby girl, who is named named Peach Parker. 

Kevin and Sophie tied the knot in a private ceremony in February 2019.

The couple exchanged vows in front of 175 guests at a picturesque vineyard in Western Australia.

Photos uploaded by guests on the day showed the couple looking emotional as they stood at the altar, with the lush Wildwood Valley in the background.

The reception also appeared to be a wild affair, with a midnight delivery of 150 McDonald’s cheeseburgers and a near-dawn finish.
