The Block’s first winners Fiona Mills and Adam Thorn buy six-bedroom Federation home in Coogee for $4.095 million – with plans for big renovations

Fiona Mills and Adam Thorn won the original season of The Block back in 2003, and now they have a new project on their hands. 

The couple have purchased a Federation home in Coogee for $4.095 million, realestate.com.au reports. 

They beat seven other bidders at an auction over the weekend, with the bidding starting at $3.6 million.

With its Federation design, the quaint, six-bedroom property has historical credentials. 

It’s also in a sought after location, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Coogee beach. 

The skilled renovators plan to give it a makeover, however, their agent, Adrian Bo of NGFarah Real Estate, has revealed.

‘It is a bit dated and needs to be updated, so they are now planning to undertake a major renovation to the property,’ he told the website.   

Adam and Fiona, a couple from Sydney, were considered the show favourites throughout the course of the first series. 

They sold their ground-floor Bondi apartment for $751,000, earning them a profit of $156,000.

The pair later released their own renovation book, Adam and Fiona’s Renos On A Budget: How We Renovated Our Way To The Block.

These days, Adam works for Freedom Kitchens and Fiona has a job in the beauty industry.  

It was confirmed in December that Nine producers had snapped up five homes in a leafy Melbourne cul-de-sac – Bronte Court in Hampton – for $11.5million, in preparation for the upcoming 2021 season.
