The Masked Singer UK FINAL: Joss Stone is revealed as Sausage after being crowned the WINNER

Joss Stone was revealed as Sausage after she was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer UK final on Saturday night.

The singer, 33, who was heavily pregnant at the time of filming and has since welcomed her first child, removed her mask after beating Badger and Robin.

Prior to her unmasking, Badger was revealed as singer Ne-Yo, who finished in second place, while Robin was unmasked as JLS star Aston Merrygold, who came third.

Talking after her identity was disclosed, Joss, who revealed as one of her clues that she ate a plant-based diet, revealed why she dressed up as a Sausage.

She quipped: ‘Who doesn’t love sausage and chips! I’m dressed as a sausage, what are you going to do but laugh?!’ 

Host Joel Dommett pointed out that Joss was heavily pregnant at the time of filming, the star welcomed her first child, a daughter named Violet Melissa, with American musician boyfriend Cody DaLuz earlier this month. 

Talking about why she decided to take part, Joss said: ‘Why not?! Life can be so serious, we should just dress up as chips and sausage to have a sing song.

Third place: Aston Merrygold, who was revealed to be Robin, finished in third place

‘This has been the funniest and most hilarious job I have ever had, I’ve laughed so much!’  

Elsewhere, prior to Aston’s unveiling, judges Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Rita Ora all guessed who the contestant could be.

The foursome were joined by 2020 winner, Nicola Roberts, on the panel with the latter and Rita correctly guessing Aston as Robin.

While Jonathan wrongly predicted Alexandra Burke, Davina guessed Nicky Byrne and Mo questioned whether Olly Murs was under the mask.  

Talking after his unmasking, Aston revealed that his JLS bandmates Marvin Humes, Oritsé Williams and JB Gill had no idea he was doing the show.

Waving to the camera, the singer joked: ‘So hi guys!’, he also added that he has ‘loved’ the ‘brilliant’ competition.

Prior to his unmasking, Aston sung For Once In My Life by Stevie Wonder while he also teased that his name ‘fits like a glove’, in a nod at Marigold yellow rubber gloves.

Speaking after his identity was revealed, Aston said on why he decided to do the singing competition: ‘I love singing! So what better challenge than to be able to do it behind a mask and it be all about the voice.’

He added about keeping the show a secret: ‘Not as hard as I first thought! It’s actually been quite exciting knowing and my friends and family had no idea.’

Aston also revealed that he ‘loved’ his outfit, he said: ‘I loved my outfit and character.

‘As soon as your mask goes on something takes over and that’s it you’re a whole different… I was about to say person but, yeah, you’re the furthest thing from being a person on this show!’

Joking about the judges and their guesses over Robin’s identity, Aston quipped: ‘Some of their guesses were very flattering and some I was very confused at! The panel are a great bunch and they bring great energy.’ 

Aston soared to fame on The X Factor in 2008 with his band JLS, consisting of the singer, Marvin Humes, Oritsé Williams and JB Gill. They finished in second place. 

The band reunited last year for the first time in seven years and are set to go on a 10th anniversary tour after parting ways in 2013. They had great success with hits Everybody In Love and Eyes Wide Shut. 

Aston shares two sons Grayson, two, and Macaulay Shay, eight months, with fiancée Sarah Lou Richards.  

Last week, singer Gabrielle was revealed as Harlequin with former Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins unmasked as Dragon.
