The Project: Isla Fisher asked if her father Brian was real-life inspiration for Borat

Isla Fisher reveals whether her father Brian was the real-life inspiration for her husband Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter-ego Borat on The Project

Isla Fisher couldn’t contain her laughter after being asked if her father, Brian, was the real-life inspiration for Borat during an interview on The Project on Thursday.

The 45-year-old actress was asked by panelist Tommy Little if her dad, who she affectionately calls ‘Poppa Fish’, inspired her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen’s iconic character.

It comes after Isla shared a photo of her father on Instagram on Wednesday, in which he bears a striking resemblance to Borat.

‘My father has also dappled in many types of facial hair. He’s grown a long beard, a short beard, you know, sideburns, no sideburns, a handlebar moustache, pencil thin moustache,’ she explained.

‘He’s definitely rocked many looks over the ages, but you’re right, in that photo it does seem like it’s a nod to that character. But no, he’s just a very dapper gent expressing himself.’

The black-and-white photo showed a dark-haired Brian with a Borat-style moustache and thick wavy hair.

‘The original Borat,’ wrote one fan, while another commented, ‘Looks like Sasha [sic] in prosthetic makeup’.
