An amateur home cook has revealed how to make the perfect eggs with runny yolks in a pie maker rather than on a stovetop.

Posting to an Australian Facebook group dedicated to sharing easy recipes, Jenny said using the pie maker is the best way to cook the eggs to your preferred consistency.

‘There’s really no other way to cook them! Cook for five minutes for soft [eggs] or seven minutes for hard,’ she wrote in the caption of the post.

For soft, yolky eggs it’s also best to leave the lid of the pie maker up while cooking, whereas for hard eggs the lid can be put down.

The end result looked delicious with golden runny yolk pouring out of the two perfectly cooked eggs.

After sharing the tip on Facebook, others rejoiced and thanked Jenny as they never thought of the alternative cooking method before.

One woman also tried cooking the eggs in the pie maker herself for the first time and was ‘very pleased’ with the end result.

‘[The] eggs were perfect, I just love this machine,’ she said.

‘So quite awhile back I saw a few people make [arancini balls] in their pie maker, so I finally got around to giving them a go with the leftover mushroom risotto I had in the fridge,’ she said in the caption.

‘I found using a large heatproof plastic spoon helped to flip them without breaking,’ she said, adding she rotated the arancinis on both sides until they were crispy.

‘Once cooked drain on a paper towel and what I did was turned my oven on to a very low heat and kept the arancini’s in there to stay warm while I cooked the rest of them.’
