They may be the world’s most successful children’s band, but it seems The Wiggles also have a knack for keeping adults entertained too.

The band’s current line-up, Emma Watkins, Simon Price, Lachlan Gillespie and Anthony Field, joined former members Jeff Fatt and Murray Cook for a special performance on Triple J’s Like a Version on Friday.

They performed a cover version of Elephant by Tame Impala, which they took to another level by remixing with their own classic song Fruit Salad.

The Wiggles said they’d found the performance quite challenging.

But despite this, their cover version received plenty of positive feedback as fans rushed to praise them on Twitter.

‘The Wiggles covering Tame Impala’s Elephant. Plus a lil Fruit Salad. Two majorly different bands but both are amazing Aussie acts. I am 100 per cent for it,’ one wrote.

Another added: ‘OMG The Wiggles’ cover of Tame Impala haha. This is in my top 10 for sure in next year’s Hottest 100!’

A third wrote: ‘This is the greatest Like a Version of all time.’

Coming soon! The band – whose current line-up consists of (L-R) Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie, Anthony Field and Simon Pryce – revealed on the show that they ‘can’t wait’ to return to perform on-stage for a string of dates this year

The band, like many other musicians around the world, have been impacted greatly by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected live performances.

They recently announced an Australian tour for 2021, to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary.

‘All of us around the country that are entertainers, we have been waiting for the moment to be able to get the green light to go out and do what we do – which is perform, play music and sing for our audiences,’ said Anthony, a.k.a. the Blue Wiggle.

‘We’re not alone in that we can’t wait to go out and perform.’
