The video game series, which inspired the film, began in 2007 with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and follows treasure hunter, Nathan, who travels around the world.

Development on the Uncharted movie started just a year later in 2008, though it took 12 years to get off the ground, with a number of writers and directors coming aboard and ultimately leaving the project.

Mark Wahlberg, who was once slated to play an older version of Nathan, has now been cast as Victor Sullivan, a.k.a. Sully, who is a mentor for Nathan and a fellow treasure hunter.
