Tom Parker and his wife Kelsey are planning on having more children

Tom Parker and his wife Kelsey are planning on having more children as he bravely battles a terminal brain tumour.

The Wanted singer, 32, was diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma in September 2020, and is now looking ahead to the future after undergoing chemo and radiotherapy.

The couple are already parents to Aurelia, 17 months, and Bodhi, seven months, with Kelsey revealing she believes they will have at least two more kids. 

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: ‘We are planning for more children – I’ve always wanted a big family and I think we’ll end up with four.

‘There’s only a 16-month age gap between our two children and it’s definitely been a lot, even without taking into account our circumstances, so I won’t be having children that close in age again – doing that once was enough.’

Kelsey also revealed she and Tom have decided how they will tell their children about their father’s brain tumour when they are old enough to understand. 

She said: ‘I want them to know that life isn’t always rosy, but we get through it. I know we will say, “Dad has a brain tumour but he is fighting it”‘. 

Tom is currently still receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy and has confirmed that he is ‘responding well’ to treatment and his tumour has shrunk ‘significantly’. 

Kelsey said she cried tears of joy when she learned Tom’s tumour had shrunk and the couple are looking to the future with ‘nothing but positivity’. 

The mother-of-two added that she has not researched any statistics around Tom’s disease, saying she prefers to ‘take each day as it comes’.

The former boy band star recently said he refuses to ‘feel sorry for himself’ amid his ongoing health battle. 

Tom said that although he has times of ‘overwhelming sadness’, he doesn’t find strength in sadness and is determined to keep his ‘head held high’.

He wrote: ‘If you think I’m just sat at home feeling sorry for myself… I will not do that!

‘Don’t get me wrong I could easily do that. There’s times of overwhelming sadness but I don’t find strength in sadness. 

‘It’s a terrible situation but I’m moving forward with my head held high.

‘Thank you all for the love an support I’ll give you an update later about how treatment is going’ (sic).

Kelsey recently revealed the couple’s children are too young to understand ‘how ill their dad actually is’.

Speaking during an appearance on Loose Women, she said: ‘I just think that they don’t really know that daddy is ill at the moment. When Tom goes off to treatment, he’s off or he’s going to work or wherever he’s going.

‘So to them, they don’t really know how ill their dad actually is. They’re doing so well, the kids. We’re all doing really well.’

Despite Tom’s shock diagnosis, Kelsey said he is doing ‘really well’.

She explained: ‘Tom’s doing really well. We had a meeting last Thursday and he’s just had another stable scan, so he’s doing so well.

‘We’ve only just started our second round [of chemotherapy], so we’ve had radio and chemo, we’ve had a bit of a break, because he had a bit of a dodgy liver, and now we’ve just started the second round of chemo.

‘The tumour has shrunk, we’ve had a significant reduction. We were all just in tears when we got that news in January.

‘We just couldn’t believe it, that he’d had radio and chemo and he’s had a significant reduction after that. We were just all so overwhelmed.’
