Two boys under the age of 16 have been arrested following a sexual assault on a woman outside a pub.

A road close to Epsom town centre, Surrey, has been cordoned off by police following the attack.     

Surrey Police officers and forensic teams were in Church Street on September 20 following the serious incident.

Police were called to reports of members of the public witnessing the assault against a young woman at 9.30pm on September 19. 

Two suspects, both boys under 16-year-old, are being held in custody after they were detained and arrested on Saturday night close to Ashley Road. 

The scene has been sealed off on Sunday and the cordon is expected to remain in place until further notice.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: ‘Local residents will see us on scene for the remainder of the day whilst we carry out our enquiries and may notice an increased police presence over the next couple of days. 

‘This is nothing to be concerned out and we ask that you please respect the cordons that are in place.’
