Two women and man are arrested by police on suspicion of murder after victim in his 30s was found dead in Essex house in early hours of New Years Day

  • The man was found unresponsive inside a property in Rayleigh, Essex
  • Victim was pronounced dead at the scene in Worcester Drive shortly before 1am 
  • Man, 39, a 23-year-old women and 25-year-old women from Basildon arrested 

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The victim was found unresponsive inside a property in Rayleigh, Essex, shortly before 1am.

The man, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Worcester Drive, despite the best efforts of paramedics.

A 39-year-old local man, a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman from Basildon have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The local woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. 

Essex Police believe all the people involved knew each other. 

Forensic experts and an officer with a dog were pictured outside the property today following the death. 

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Major Crime Team on 101 and quote incident number 147 of January 1.
