‘Add one tablespoon of dish soap to a bowl,’ Carolina posted on Instagram.

‘Then add two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide.’

After mixing the combination, the mum said you should gently pour it over the stained area, taking care not to pour too much in one specific spot.

Then, ‘scrub vigorously’ with an old toothbrush.

Carolina has gained a name on TikTok for sharing handy household tips and tricks, including why you need to deep clean your dishwasher, and her simple three-step method for making your machine look brand new.

The mum-of-two said the dishwasher can easily build up with dirt and grime, so you should prioritise giving it a clean at least once a month to ensure it functions properly.

For this, all you need is some baking soda and white vinegar.

To clean your machine, Carolina said you should first sprinkle some baking soda into the machine behind the bottom rack.

‘Leave the baking soda for one hour so that it absorbs fully,’ Carolina said.

Set your machine to a heavy cycle, and then open it midway through the cycle and pour in two cups of white vinegar.

‘Resume the cycle until it’s complete,’ Carolina said.

You should end up with a machine that is clean and free from debris and buildup.

The reason why the trick works is because the vinegar will break down any remaining bits of food, grease, soap scum, residue, and any other leftover grime.

Meanwhile, baking soda helps to remove stains and freshen the overall smell of your machine.
