White House uses ‘Biden-Harris Administration’ tagline on its official website and Twitter page in nod to VP amid President Biden’s ‘expectation’ he will seek reelection

  • He said Thursday is was his ‘plan’ and ‘expectation’ to seek reelection

When it comes to official White House  web site, President Joe Biden has no issue sharing the limelight with his partner in the ‘Biden-Harris Administration’ – a tagline that the White House also uses on social media.

The White House displays the Biden-Harris moniker prominently on its website, where it also gives billing to first lady Dr. Jill Biden and first gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Including provides prominence to Harris, who Biden last week named to oversee the crisis of unaccompanied children arriving at the border.

Biden has said Harris is the ‘last voice in the room’ on key decisions – a role he says he insisted on when joining Barack Obama as his vice president.

The Biden-Harris tag dates back to the transition and the start of the administration, although the last two administrations did not always take the same route.

The official White House Twitter page uses the same configuration. ‘Welcome to the Biden-Harris White House!’ it says.

The Trump and Obama administrations did not take the tack by featuring both the president and vice president on their web sites. Trump did give Mike Pence a prominent position on campaign signage, although in a smaller type size than his own.

The archived Obama White House page put Obama and his ‘Yew We Can’ slogan up top, but included pictures of both Obama and Biden. Obama delegated substantial policy matters to Biden, including oversight over the stimulus package in the early months of the administration.

Biden said at his first official press conference that he plans to run for reelection – although his language left some wiggle room.

‘My plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation,’ he said. Biden, 78, has yet to launch an official reelection campaign, as Trump did immediately after taking office. He has said he is focused on getting the pandemic under control.

He recently flubbed when he referred to Harris as ‘President Harris,’ and accidentally called her ‘president-elect’ in December.
