Whitney Port is returning to fashion design after 6 years: ‘I’ve just been itching to do this again’

The Hills vet Whitney Port models the clothes she helped design after a six year break from fashion: ‘I’ve just been itching to do this again’

Whitney Port is back to designing clothes.

The 35-year-old reality TV star’s new Rent The Runway collection marks her first line in six years. She took a break to focus on her marriage to Tim Rosenman and in 2017 they welcomed son Sonny.

‘It’s been six years now, and I’ve just been itching to do this again; when I’m designing, that’s when I feel the most me,’ the author told Page Six of her 19-piece capsule collection with the subscription fashion service.

Passion: Whitney Port is using her experience as a ‘multitasking mom’ to influence her return to fashion design, after a six year break

She explained that her busy lifestyle and being a mother has changed the way she dresses now.

‘As a multitasking mom, I gravitate toward pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, or one-piece dresses you can throw on,’ she explained.

When speaking specifically about the collection, Port noted ‘there’s nothing body-con’ and ‘it’s all very flowy and loose and easy to wear.’

Port added: ‘They’re pieces for the woman who maybe has felt a little bit of a loss of control now, and wants to bring some joy into her life and to feel elevated and put-together, but still really comfortable.’

At the beginning of quarantine with her husband and their toddler, she initially gave into ‘the fact that it didn’t really matter’ what she looked like during the coronavirus pandemic.

‘It was just all about sweats and being comfortable and not caring because nobody was seeing me,’ she admitted, before starting to feel ‘really blah.’

‘There is something to be said for putting yourself together in a time like this,’ she told the outlet.

For her, that’s wearing anything from floral dresses with sandals to matching workout sets.

Despite her longtime affinity for bohemian pieces, Port still has a few regrets over her looks from The Hills.

‘There’s so much I would do differently. I wore so many oversized tops and blouses with my bra showing; that’s just never acceptable!’ she pointed out.

Adding: ‘The amount of times my undergarments were showing while I was filming The Hills and The City was just so inappropriate.’
