You Are What You Eat is RETURNING to screens after 14 years without Gillian McKeith as Trisha Goddard is set to replace her as the new host

You Are What You Eat is returning to screens after a 14-year break.

The popular show is now being fronted by Trisha Goddard, after previously being hosted by nutritionist Gillian McKeith during its original run.

A spokesperson for Trisha, 63, confirmed that she would be taking on hosting duties for the show, after a year which has seen many Brits pile on the pounds in lockdown.

They said: ‘The reaction To Trisha’s appearance on Pier’s Morgan Life Stories last week has been fantastic. We were all reminded of just what a brilliant TV Presenter Trisha is and sorely missed from our screens.

‘She looked fabulous, is so smart and exudes empathy based on real life experience. The plan is to start filming next month.’

While You Are What You Eat was known to some for using shock tactics to convince participants to lose weight, many will remember the infamous moment Gillian would don a pair of gloves to analyse their poo samples in a box.

Bosses at You Are What You Eat’s original production company were keen to revive the format, which saw contestants vow to slim down in eight weeks by ditching their bad eating habits.

It’s thought they were eager to sign Trisha, who has been in the midst of a comeback on British TV after spending a decade working in the US.

The presenter vowed to help the nation transform their eating habits after finding her own balance years earlier.

You Are What You Eat was a huge hit when it aired on Channel 4 for four series from 2004 to 2007.

The show saw nutritionist Gillian analyse – and predominantly criticise – the unhealthy diets of participants.

The series never shied away from using shock tactics to scare its stars into losing weight, with one woman brought to tears after seeing a tombstone made of chocolate to show how she was heading for an early grave.

Following the show’s end, Gillian was forced to publicly state she’d no longer be using the title of Doctor in promotions after a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority called her nutrition qualifications into question.
