Zara McDermott slams troll who claims she is 7st

Zara McDermott has slammed a troll who claimed she weighs 7 stone.

The Made In Chelsea star, 23, took to Instagram on Friday to hit back at accusations she is underweight, after revealing earlier this week she had lost three stone.

Zara explained her motivation to overhaul her lifestyle was not to drop the pounds, but because she felt compelled to eat a healthier diet and exercise following her grandmother’s death.

‘It’s never been about weight loss!’: Zara McDermott has slammed a troll who claimed she weighs 7 stone

The follower commented on one of Zara’s posts: ‘I read that she’s 7st 7lbs and 5″6. If that’s true, she’s underweight. Body admittedly looks great but deffo underweight’ (sic).

In a lengthy post, Zara wrote: ‘Sorry to keep having to explain myself on here, but I am definitely not 7 stone 7lbs. I have learnt a lot about posting my exact before and after weight as it can be damaging, and that’s something I would never do now.

‘Yes I have shared that I lost almost 3 stone (actually less than three stone) but no one is completely aware of my weight at my absolute heaviest and my current weight.

‘It’s entirely unfair for people to make statements saying I weight a certain amount when they have never ever heard that from me. There is nothing wrong with me at a size 10 and me at a size 6. I love myself in both pics.

‘I just want to be helpful and motivate other people who are on the same path as me to lead a healthier lifestyle. It was never about weight loss. And it’s not about weight loss.’

Zara said for her motivation is to be able to run without being out of breath and ensure she has more fruit and vegetables in her diet, rather than gorging on pizza, takeaways and pasta.

She continued: ‘It’s about balance! As I have said before, I am naturally slim, but because I was in such a huge calorie surplus and eating so much, the poor quality of my diet overrode that!

Having her say: It comes after Zara hit back at trolls who accused her of 'having an eating disorder' after she shared images of her three stone weight loss journey

Having her say: It comes after Zara hit back at trolls who accused her of ‘having an eating disorder’ after she shared images of her three stone weight loss journey

‘I actually lost my nan a few years ago. And the reason for that was because she suffered a stroke, her arteries were so clogged up from such a poor diet which caused it. It was one my catalysts for making a change to my lifestyle!’

It comes after Zara hit back at trolls who accused her of ‘having an eating disorder’ after she shared images of her three stone weight loss journey.

The Love Islander branded the critics ‘vile and toxic’ after reading their comments on Twitter, as she insisted she lost weight ‘slowly and healthily’.

Zara explained she previously ate around 3000 calories a day before discovering a healthier lifestyle 18 months ago and reminded her followers she didn’t lose weight ‘over night’.

Sharing an impassioned post on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday morning, Zara said: ‘So I’ve just woken up to a few messages saying I am getting abuse online about my weight loss. I never actually saw any abuse because I don’t have Twitter.

‘I think it’s the most vile and toxic place on the internet. But anyway, I’m trending on Twitter… So I just had a quick look and I just want to make something very clear.

‘I think it’s entirely unfair to call me ‘anorexic’. In my opinion it’s the same as calling someone morbidly obese. That’s a serious accusation of an eating disorder that I do not have.’

She went on to insist that she has followed the correct procedures to lose weight but admitted that for anyone that does have an eating disorder it can be triggering seeing weight loss posts.

Zara said: ‘I understand that for anyone recovering from an ED. Any post about weight loss could be triggering. But my journey has been done incredible healthily.

Explaining the reason behind her fuller frame, she said: ‘I have always been quite tall and naturally slim. When I was a teen I struggled to put on weight. I was eating a huge amount back in 2019…

‘I’m talking probably 3000 calories a day. I was a size 10. Which is not an unhealthy weight at all. But for my body type. Height and the fact I’ve always had a fast metabolism and always been naturally petite. It was a huge change.’

Zara revealed she is ‘naturally slim’ and she doesn’t want to receive negativity over that, adding: ‘Everyone’s body types are different. And I respect that. But I cannot be made to feel bad about my natural body type. I have naturally really long legs and a small waist.

‘When I lost body fat. It accentuated that of course. I weigh a completely healthy BMI, will not apologise for eating healthier, making wiser choices and exercising four times a week.

‘It frustrates me because this has been a long journey for me, changing my relationship with food to a more positive one, being more mindful, finding motivation to exercise when at times I’ve wanted to give up.

‘It has taken me 18 months to get where I am now! That’s a long time! I haven’t dropped three stone over night. I have done it slowly and healthily.

‘But it’s been a positive change for the better. I have so much more muscle now. I can lift heavy weights. I feel happier and healthier. And most importantly. I feel good on the inside, which means I will live a longer and healthier life!’

Zara’s comments come after she documented her amazing weight loss with a series of throwback snaps on her Instagram page on Wednesday.

The star, who recently won back Sam Thompson after a tumultuous few months, gushed: ‘I can’t believe how far I’ve come’, alongside the throwback shot.

In the first image – captioned ‘Me in June 2019’ – Zara was reclining while sporting a black bikini, pouting at the camera and looking sensational.

She then shared another bikini picture showing her notably slimmer frame.

She penned in an accompanying caption: ‘Can’t believe how far I’ve come! The first pic of me was a girl who never exercised and at whatever she wanted… She wasn’t unhappy or insecure about weight…

‘But she knew that she needed to start exercising, eating more fruits and veggies and making wiser choices in order to be healthier.’

Another progress snap saw the stunner posing in an LBD and trainers and another in the gym, in which she revealed she had shed three stone.

Aside from her throwbacks, Zara celebrated her and Sam’s reunion on Tuesday by sharing another sizzling Instagram snap, showing off her jaw-dropping figure.

The beauty posed in sporty lingerie, days after her reunion with Made In Chelsea favourite Sam was confirmed.

The previous post on Zara’s Insta saw her hinting her and Sam were back together as she posted a loved-up throwback snap from their Mykonos on Sunday.

Zara cryptically captioned the image: ‘I promise that you will always have my heart ❤️,’ leading fans to believe this was confirmation that they had reconciled.

The couple initially split in August after model Zara admitted to cheating on her partner during her stint on The X Factor in 2019, but the couple have since decided to give things another go after months of her public attempts to win him back.

On getting back together, a source exclusively told MailOnline on Sunday: ‘They are certainly back together again. This finally happened about two weeks ago now. He took her back.’
