His ‘girlfriend’ Hayley Atwell was pictured filming a train stunt earlier in the day.
But never to be outdone when it comes to being the action hero, Tom Cruise was pictured clinging on to the front of a steam train while filming for Mission: Impossible 7 in North York on Wednesday.
The actor, 58, looked impossibly dapper in a navy suit and tie, which he wore with a crisp white shirt while filming the no doubt death-defying scene on the moving train.
Wow! Tom Cruise was pictured clinging on to the front of a steam train while filming for Mission: Impossible 7 in North York on Wednesday
As the train sped along the track, a moving camera vehicle could be seen driving alongside – just metres away from Tom – as they shot the moment up close.
Tom looked typically clean cut for the scene, as he sported a freshly-shaved face and a neat hair cut.
The backdrop for the shoot was the rolling Yorkshire Moors, where the film has been based for the last week, despite claims the spy franchise had already completed filming.

Earlier in the day, rumoured couple Tom and Hayley cut sombre figures as they stepped out onto set together.
Tom and Agent Carter star, 39, appeared frosty as they walked alongside director Christopher McQuarrie and other crew members but did not seem to talk to each other while making their way to film on the North Yorkshire Moors railway.
Their outing comes four months after romance rumours began, with sources saying at the time that filming ‘brought them closer’.

Despite the apparent frosty nature of their stroll to set, Hayley was seen giving Tom a run for his money as she practised stunts on a diesel train before going on to perform them while being shot by a camera crew.
The actress was in a safety harness as she prepared for her latest scenes, which saw her try and move from one carriage to another on the outside of the train.
While she was safely strapped into place during rehearsals, Hayley was seen holding onto the carriage door and gangway at the end of the coach for leverage.
Hayley made sure to adhere to strict Covid-19 protocols on set while she rehearsed, keeping her mask on at all times while the cameras were not rolling.

Going for it: Hayley put on an animated display as she threw herself into filming duties and the dramatic stunts
Hayley was seen wearing a cropped grey hoodie over an open-collared white shirt that she teamed with sleet grey trousers for the shoot.
Her brunette locks were swept back into a tight ponytail and she wore a light palette of make-up for filming, while she stepped out in grey ankle boots.
Tom, meanwhile, looked dapper in a dark blue padded jacket that he wore over sleek suit trousers that he teamed with a pair of smart black shoes that had lifts in them.

Later on in the day, Tom was seen taking socially distanced photos with fans who were waiting outside Levisham station in the hopes of meeting him.
The actor made sure to keep a safe distance apart from the members of the public and kept his mask on and his hands clasped by his sides for the pictures.
Tom was friendly as he spoke to the fans, telling them the location was a ‘lovely place’ and joking around about how cold it was while filming.
Focused: Hayley appeared in a sombre mood while walking with Tom and another member of the crew, who offered her hot beverage before they started the shoot

And, action! A helicopter was seen flying around the set to film the cast from above
Tom and Hayley star opposite Vanessa Kirby and Rebecca Ferguson in the movie where the plot for the latest adventure of Tom’s character Ethan Hunt has been kept firmly under wraps.
The outing is the first for the duo since it was claimed that filming brought them ‘even closer’, as they are said to have become ‘fairly inseparable’ after they ‘hit it off from day one’.
The new ‘couple’ were spotted standing on scaffolding beside a train, which they appeared using to be shooting a scene together.
Tom hasn’t had a high-profile romance since his divorce from ex-wife Katie Holmes, whom he split from in 2012 and shares daughter Suri, 15.
Need a lift? Tom also wore a pair of smart black shoes that had lifts in them
Prior to this, Tom was married to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001. After their split, he retained custody of their two adopted children Connor, 26, and Isabella, 28, who had been raised in the Church of Scientology.
Meanwhile Hayley is said to have split from her English doctor ex earlier this year.
A source told The Sun back in December: ‘Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one.
‘Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.
‘They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.’
MailOnline contacted both Tom and Hayley’s representatives for comment at the time.
Mission: Impossible 7 is scheduled to be released later this year.
It was claimed in February that location filming on Mission: Impossible 7 had wrapped after a marathon global schedule interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, Christopher McQuarrie posted that production had finished in Abu Dhabi and he was heading ‘back to London for a few finishing touches.’
The delays due to the pandemic, however, mean that Tom’s plan to go straight into filming an eighth Mission: Impossible movie have had to be shelved, Deadline.com reported.
Filming on Mission: Impossible 7 was supposed to start in Italy in February 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed it until July 2020.
Filming began in the UK, moved to Norway and then back to Italy where it ground to a halt once again after 12 crew members tested positive for the coronavirus.
Set: Hayley was seen standing on a platform that had been attached to a gangway of the train carriage
Cautious: Crew members were on hand to ensure the stunts went smoothly and a safety harness was attached on the trains
Impressive: The filming crew set up an impressive scaffolding and props onboard the steam train
Every shot! A helicopter hovered above, no doubt capturing every single bit of action scene by scene
