Dr. Phil chats with son Jordan McGraw and Morgan Stewart on Phil in the Blanks podcast

Dr. Phil is back with an all-new season of his hit podcast Phil in the Blanks and he invited two very special guests on for the first episode.

The beloved daytime talk show host sat down for a personal chat with his son Jordan McGraw and daughter-in-law Morgan Stewart who became first time parents in February.

This summer the 34-year-old musician will be heading back on tour with the Jonas Brothers and during the interview Dr. Phil asked his son tough questions about how Jordan will manage his roles as a father and a rockstar while he’s on the road.

‘There’s some news that’s come out today,’ Dr. Phil said in a clip. ‘You’re going on tour again, starting when?’

With a coy smile, Jordan informed his dad that he wasn’t sure of the first concert date but confirmed it would be sometime in August. 

The upcoming Remember This Tour with the Jonas Brothers will kick off summer 2021 and will be roughly 40 dates.

‘So, you’re going to be away from Morgan and Row some,’ Dr. Phil said to his son. ‘I mean, it’s not like you’re going to be in Europe, but you’re going to be away some. How you gonna handle that?’

‘We’ve already talked about it,’ Jordan replied thoughtfully. ‘I think we’re just gonna be very deliberate about me flying back when I have a couple days and her flying out anytime that it’s a weekend or I have a couple days off somewhere more fun for her and Row to come.

Adding: ‘But, we’re just going to make a real deliberate effort to see each other more than is probably reasonable.’

During the pandemic, the rocker and the E! host got engaged, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony and welcomed a baby girl together, Row Renggli McGraw, who was born earlier this year. 

‘I think, also, going into this relationship – even prior to Row – I mean, we knew that was going to be a reality,’ Morgan chimed in while her husband rested an affectionate hand on her knee. 

‘He always had what he was doing and I always had what I was doing. And, I was never going to be the person that was gonna say “We’re going to be apart? You can’t go on tour we have a baby”,’ she continued, adding: ‘He needs to grow as a human being as do I so we can continue to grow together.’

Luckily, the Jonas Brothers tours are a real family affair with both Kevin and Joe Jonas fathers in their own right. 

Jordan explained to his dad that during their last tour together, Kevin ‘set the bar pretty high’ when it came to parenting on the road, revealing that the Cool singer would take 16 hour flights back and forth in a day to make it home for the first day of school. 

‘Their backstage is probably gonna be padded,’ Jordan joked.   

Morgan and Jordan were the picture of newlywedded bliss while chatting on Phil in the Blanks, cuddled together on the couch at Phil and his wife Robin’s stunning Los Angeles home, arms and legs wrapped up in one another. 

‘Both of you live in town with your in-laws,’ Dr. Phil said to the smitten couple. ‘How does that work?’

‘I think we do …’ Morgan begins to respond before her father-in-law hilariously cautions: ‘watch it!’

Laughing she continued: ‘I think we do a really good job. We balance it well. I think it’s a blessing, I think it’s nice.’ 

‘We like our own parents,’ Jordan added. ‘It makes it easier to like each other’s.’

Dr. Phil and Jordan delve into their own relationship in the new episode and discuss the McGraw family’s journey from Texas to Los Angeles, with Phil becoming one of the most well-known and respected voices in television. 

Born in the Lone Star state, Jordan and brother Jay spent their early childhood relatively off the radar. 

But, following Dr. Phil’s success with Oprah Winfrey and the subsequent launch of his eponymous talk show in 2002, the boys moved with Phil and his entrepreneur and author wife Robin to California. 

While Phil continues to host The Dr. Phil Show, now in its 19th season, he has also launched several successful projects including The Doctors and DailyMailTV, as well as podcasts like Phil in the Blanks, and the scripted series Bull. His son Jay followed in his footsteps and serves as an executive producer and creative mind behind many of the shows coming out of the McGraw’s production company Stage 29 Productions.

Meanwhile, Robin McGraw hosts her own popular podcast, I’ve Got a Secret, has a line of high end skin care products, The Robin McGraw Revelation, and has authored several best-selling books. Her true passion, though, is charity work through the non-profit she named after her mother, When Georgia Smiled.

During Phil in the Blanks, Jordan opens up about what it was like to be in the public eye as a child – a notion his own daughter will most certainly grapple with in the future. 

The musician recently released his latest single, Her, and Morgan serves as the co-host of E!’s Daily Pop and is the creative director for her own Morgan Stewart Sport clothing line.
