Amanda Holden has teased some big changes for her hit ITV show Britain’s Got Talent.
Speaking on her Heart Radio Breakfast show on Thursday morning, the BGT judge updated fans on how the final of the 2020 series will work.
Days after reports suggested bosses were considering filming the post-poned live shows without a studio audience, Amanda insisted ‘we remain hopeful that there’ll be a big family audience for BGT.’

Amanda’s Heart Radio co-presenter Ashley Roberts was keen to know more, revealing ‘Amanda, yesterday you teased us that there might be a little BGT update, something about maybe an audience, I believe?’
‘Well, yes. I do,’ Amanda replied. ‘I spoke to the producers yesterday and we remain hopeful that there’ll be a big family audience for BGT and I’m just going to say, we will be leading the way for the future in TV in how people will watch our show live.’
‘Leading the future?’ Ashley asked. ‘We will be leading the way,; promised Amanda.
Amanda remained tight-lipped about the details though, leading a frustrated Ashley to joke ‘Are you just teasing us? You won’t give us any more information?’

‘I can’t!’ insisted Amanda. Fellow presenter Jamie Theakston asked: ‘Are you talking about the live audience?’ getting a ‘yes’ from Amanda.
‘The studio audience?’ Jamie pressed. ‘Yes, we’re going to be leading the way on how our audience sees Britain’s Got Talent this year,’ clarified Amanda.
‘Watch and learn people. I’m not giving it away because I don’t want all the other shows to nick the idea [laughs].’
Jamie laughed though as he questioned ‘Do you really understand it yourself?’ ‘No!’ agreed Amanda.

Earlier this month it was reported that BGT bosses are currently planning for ‘every eventuality’ after the original semi-finals were postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The show is also said to be preparing in case guidelines change and will also have social measures put in place for the crowds.
Speaking before the government’s latest announcement confirming certain restrictions will be lifted from July 4, the source told The Sun: ‘ITV bosses are having to plan for every eventuality and as it stands, the BGT live shows won’t be filmed with an audience.
‘If guidelines change and they can get in a crowd using social distancing, they’ll consider it.’
They added: ‘BGT bosses know they can keep production values sky high and that while the audience have some role to play, most of the reaction comes from the judges.’

The source claimed that at present the only people in the studio will be a small crew and the judging panel made up of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
They added that the show will make up for the reported lack of audience with ‘bigger and more daring’ acts.

This week prime minister Boris Johnson announced a relaxation of guidelines, allowing the opening of pubs, cafes and restaurants with socially distancing measures in place.

Hotels, theme parks, cinemas and hairdressers will also be allowed to open from July 4 but theatres are not permitted to reopen.
Amanda previously confirmed that the Britain’s Got Talent’s live shows will return to screens later this year.
The TV personality claimed that bosses have told her to keep ‘early autumn’ free in the hopes filming can continue for the current series, which was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking to HuffPost UK, the mother-of-two said: ‘All of the main judges have been given a date to hold in early autumn to see if it works live.
‘But we would never do it without an audience because we’ve always said the British public is the fifth judge.
