Ant & Dec tease that the Welsh version of their I’m A Celeb treehouse set will be more like Game Of Thrones… and that the trials will still be ‘horrific’

Ant and Dec have teased some of the details of the forthcoming Welsh version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The presenting duo have promised that the trials will be as ‘horrific’ as ever and teased that the set is a lot more Game Of Thrones for the castle setting.

‘Don’t worry they’re not easing back on the trials – they’ll still be as horrific as they normally are!’ Ant promised in a chat ahead of Sunday’s launch show, with Dec adding: ‘Some of the spiders here are bigger than ones in Australia – that’s all I’m saying!’

The show has been relocated from the jungle Down Under to Gwrych Castle in Northern Wales due to the COVID-19 crisis.

‘We’re feeling incredibly excited. We’re very curious to see how the celebs get on in a cold environment rather than a hot one,’ Dec said. ‘We talked about what we would do if we couldn’t make it to Australia, and discussed doing it in the UK in a castle.

‘Then we got really excited about the prospect of it, and now it’s here we can’t wait to get up there and get started.’

Of the revamped studio – which usually is set in a jungle-top treehouse – the boys teased: ‘It’s the castle version of what we normally have. It’s a bit more Game Of Thrones than tree house!’

But the duo – who have fronted the show for 20 years now – have yet to visit the set.

‘We’ve been shown photos and we’ve been kept up to date with all the progress on the set up. We can’t wait to visit,’ Dec said, with Ant adding: ‘Apparently it has a golf course right outside which is handy!’

Of the longevity of the show, he added: ‘It’s on once a year, it’s a short burst of reality and the cast changes each year. Basically it’s the same but different, which I think people love.’
