Bachelor couple Matty J and Laura Byrne reveal new date for their wedding after they were forced to postpone nuptials due to coronavirus

The Bachelor’s Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson and fiancée Laura Byrne are the latest celebrities to have their wedding plans disrupted amid coronavirus.

Speaking on Studio 10 via video link on Thursday, the reality TV couple said the pandemic has forced them to postpone their upcoming nuptials.

Matty J, 33, said they pair had intended to tie-the-knot this year, but now they’re working on a new date in 2021.

‘We’re working towards 2021, maybe Spring… a spring wedding I think could be on the cards,’ Matty explained with Laura and their 10-month-old daughter beside him.

Channel 10 host Joe Hildebrand then appeared to joke with the reality star couple, saying it may be ‘too soon’ for the pair who have been together for three years.

Elsewhere in the chat, the former Bachelor claimed he was lucky being ‘extremely unorganized’ with wedding planning and setting a date had paid off.

Matt laughed, as Laura chuckled in agreement at the fact their slack attempts at planning their wedding had become a blessing in disguise.

‘I was meant to put a date in the diary for a venue, but I didn’t do that. But it’s kind of worked in our benefit now.’

The couple, who found love on The Bachelor Australia in 2017, went on to say that no wedding venues or services had been paid for, so they weren’t out of pocket.

Previously speaking to TV Week, Laura, 34, revealed juggling a baby and full-time work also meant that the couple never got around to locking in a date and venue.

‘Luckily our lack of plans and disorganisation meant that we didn’t have to cancel anything. We are now looking to 2021.’

The Bachelor couple are currently in lockdown at their Bondi home with their 10-month-old daughter Marlie-Mae, who will turn one in June.
