Big Brother EXCLUSIVE: Ex-AFL player Daniel Gorringe is devastated by his edit ahead of the live finale – as he distances himself from the show
Big Brother’s Daniel Gorringe is hoping the public will still vote for him during Wednesday’s live finale, despite his ‘bad edit’ in the second half of the season.
After facing viewer backlash and online trolling in recent weeks, the former AFL player, 28, said on Wednesday that he was just looking forward to it all ending.
‘There’s been a few reckless nights of sleep and I’m exhausted to be honest with all the stress. It’s taken a toll on me,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

Dan and housemate Mat Garrick have faced scrutiny in the past few weeks for trying to orchestrate a ‘boys’ club blindside’ against finalist Sophie Budack.
‘My mental health has taken a massive toll throughout the whole thing, just from the bullying and to be made out to be someone I don’t believe Mat or myself are. It’s been really really tough,’ he said.
‘I wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worst enemy, to be molded into something and receive comments online and make hate popular. It’s been tough,’ he added.

He also hopes that the live finale will show viewers who he really is.
‘I’m excited to see everyone together [at the finale] in a space that’s going to be live. It will be interesting, because you can’t manipulative live television,’ he said.

He continued: ‘I’m also excited for the next chapter. I don’t want to be Dan from Big Brother in five years’ time. I want to be something bigger and better than that.
‘I’m not going to sit back and hope things fall into place. I’ve been lucky to be given a platform at the moment, so I’d love to entertain on a bigger platform, whether that’s TV or radio. I’ll be working very hard to make it happen.’
Dan hopes to follow in the footsteps of former AFL star Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, who transitioned from Big Brother to a media career in the mid-2000s.
‘To see his career now and what he’s done as a public figure, I really like who he is as a person and have great respect for him… hopefully people will forget I’m Dan from Big Brother and I’ll be Dan from something else,’ he said.
