Big Brother star Krystal Hipwell defends beach trip nine days postpartum

Big Brother star Krystal Hipwell defends her decision to go to the beach with her family just nine days after giving birth to her son Huska

Former Big Brother star Krystal Hipwell (née Forscutt) has had her hands full since welcoming her third child, son Huska, late last month.

She has been inundated with sleepless nights, nappy changes and blisters on her nipples, so a trip to the coast over the Labour Day long weekend was a no-brainer.

But the mother of three, 34, was left feeling a ‘little weird’ after a handful of Instagram trolls said she shouldn’t be hitting the beach so soon after giving birth.

Hitting back: Big Brother star Krystal Hipwell has defended her decision to go to the beach with her family just nine days after giving birth to her son Huska

‘I am wearing a liner (not that it’s really anyone’s business),’ Krystal wrote, responding to an inappropriate comment from one of her critics.

‘Feeling a little weird having to clear this up but quite a few people [are] asking me how I am at the beach nine days postpartum and the answer to that is – black was a deliberate swimsuit choice,’ she added.

Krystal also addressed the fact her stomach appeared darker than the rest of her body in a photo of herself wearing a midriff-baring swimsuit.

‘This is due to being out in the sun with my bump. Once my tummy starts to go down it ends up looking really dark. This happened after all of my pregnancies,’ she said.

‘I call it “the return of the dried-up tobacco leaf”, which is what my wrinkly tummy resembles postpartum.

‘I’m definitely not complaining. The female body will never cease to amaze me!’

Her Instagram post was accompanied by two photos of herself holding her son Huska, who was born on September 25.

In one photo, Krystal – who also shares son Sunny, five, and daughter Nakoda, two, with her husband, Neil Hipwell – smiles at her newborn while standing in knee-deep water.

The long weekend trip marked the first time Huska had visited the beach.

‘A weekend to remember! Spent the days at the beach with friends and family, and celebrated our first weekend as a family of five with a dance party in our living room,’ Krystal told her followers.

‘Also snuck in a cheeky glass of wine or maybe two.’

Krystal has been very open with how life has been with her ‘Husky Boy’ since his arrival last month.

She revealed on September 30 that she had blisters on her nipples from breastfeeding her son, and that she was feeling ‘deliriously tired’.

‘You can easily wish the days away but here I am, third child in, and I know all too well how quickly this season of life will pass so I’m trying not to wish it away,’ she said.

‘Trying to embrace it and savour the “little” moments that really aren’t so little at all.’
