The dark side of fame: Josie Gibson, 35, has revealed that after her Big Brother win in 2010, she endured death threats, backstabbing, abuse on social media and was ripped off by friends

Josie told The Sun: ‘I was ripped off by people in the business and friends. I’ve learnt to keep my circle small now as you can’t trust people and I realised not everyone was like me.’

‘However, when I had death threats I was very scared and really should have seen someone to help me mentally get through it.’

‘I struggled with taunts about my looks and weight on social media and in the press but now I don’t care. I had to grow a very thick skin.’

The mum-of-one admitted that there was aftercare offered by Big Brother, but she thought she was ‘very strong’ and so didn’t opt to use it.

The star has been spending lockdown with her son Reggie, 21 months, and her ex, and recently resumed filming segments outdoors for This Morning.

Josie gave birth to baby Reggie in September 2018, and split from her son’s father Terry just four months later.

Speaking to new! magazine, she admitted: ‘Even though I do find it hard to live with him, I’ve realised I can’t live without him. I do really love him, he’s just hard work.’

Terry has asthma so he first isolated separately from Josie and Reggie but the TV host asked him to move in after he went a month in lockdown with no symptoms.

Josie and Terry, who has never shown his face in public, decided to call it quits last January after a series of arguments but the TV presenter now feels that many of them were petty.

She said: ‘We had a great big falling out because he’s got OCD and I had too many shoes in the hallway. But now when people are struggling to breathe, you just think “what a stupid thing to argue about!”‘

Although they are now getting on well, Josie isn’t sure whether she wants to start up her romance with her ex again but has not ruled it out.

She said: ‘We’re still in separate rooms and taking things one step at a time… I need him to realise where it all went wrong and where we’ve got to put things right.’
