The Met Gala is shaping up to be a splashy affair in September filled with star power.
On Monday Vogue announced that Billie Eilish is joining Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka as co-chair for the 2021 Met gala after Page Six leaked Chalamet was onboard.
The theme of the event will be American Independence to go with the opening of the Costume Institute’s next exhibition, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.

Eilish is currently on the June cover of Vogue magazine as she wore lingerie while showing off her new blonde hair.
The event will take place on September 13, after being moved from May due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be smaller than usual.
The honorary chairs are Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour.
Vogue shared on Monday that the exhibition will have two acts: ‘The first, called In America, will be a small show that takes place this September; part two, a continued look into the glories of our domestic fashion industry, will be unveiled in 2022—with a celebration slated for its storied date of the first Monday in May.’

Dress code: Timothee has said in the past that he likes to choose his own clothing because that is ‘fun.’ ‘I hear about celebrities who have stylists, and that blows my mind,’ Chalamet told Time Out in 2018. ‘It’s certainly not why I act, but I can wear cool clothes from some of the nicest designers in the world. The theme is American Independence because there is a ‘newfound sense of freedom: to gather, to travel, and to get utterly dressed to the nines’ after lockdown eases, the magazine state.
‘Though we’ve had our share of awards-show gowns through the pandemic, celebrities posing poolside at their homes don’t quite have the same effect as a proper red carpet. The operatic fashion parade on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a wondrous thing to behold,’ it was added by the publication.
Exhibition curator Andrew Bolton will include designs from American fashion icons like Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta, it was shared.

Between July 6-17, Timothée will likely attend the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, in which he plays student revolutionary Zeffirelli.
The Cadillac commercial star will also portray Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s $165M sci-fi epic Dune, which hits US/UK theaters and HBO Max on October 1.
