‘It would mean the world to her’: Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are ‘already planning to have a baby – and if it’s a boy they’re going to name him Steve’

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell married in a private ceremony at Australia Zoo last month after more than six years of dating.

And according to New Idea the newlyweds are already planning their next big milestone: welcoming their first child together.

The couple are said to be making preparations to grow their family by building an animal-themed nursery, an insider told the magazine.

If they have a boy, the couple will reportedly name him after Bindi’s late father, Steve ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin.

‘For Bindi, losing her father was incredibly hard… so honouring him in this way would mean the world to her,’ the source said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Australia Zoo for comment.

Bindi and Chandler commemorated Steve at their wedding by placing a picture of him at the altar and lighting a candle in his memory.

‘Mum [Terri] and Robert [her brother] were standing right next to dad as we exchanged vows,’ Bindi told People magazine of the touching moment.

The couple also honoured Steve’s memory with a candle-lighting ceremony.

It comes after Bindi told New Idea magazine that she and Chandler were already thinking about how they want to raise their children.

‘One day it’d be special to have my own little wildlife warriors,’ she said in December 2019.

‘I think it’s a way away right now, but when it does happen, I can guarantee you they’ll have their own Khaki because Khaki is not just a colour, it’s an attitude,’ she added.
