Brendan Fevola’s wild night out during a 2006 AFL International Rules trip

Brendan Fevola has finally opened up on the full story behind his infamous bar fight in Ireland in 2006 that saw him sent home in disgrace, and has revealed it cost him $250,000.

Appearing on a panel at the Poker With Thee Stars Tournament Friday, Fevola, 40, shared sordid details of how he became involved in a Galway nightclub brawl following Australia’s win against Ireland.

$62,000 win on the horses, a vomiting teammate and urine soaked bar: What really happened during Brendan Fevola’s (pictured) wild night out during a 2006 AFL International Rules trip

The tale, which could easily make for the plot of a Hangover movie sequel, began with a 25-year-old Fevola and fellow Australia teammate Barry Hall winning $62,000 betting on a horse at the Galway races.

‘Number 9 comes screaming down the outside salutes and Hally and I won $62,000. I had the best day ever,’ Fevola said, as reported by the Herald Sun

Already in good spirits following Australia’s NRL triumph over Ireland in an International Rules game – a blend of Aussie Rules and Gaelic football – an elated Fevola made his way to a Galway pub to celebrate.

‘I went to the pub and I thought to myself, ‘I don’t want to get in any f***ing trouble’, so I picked two blokes [players] to sit at the barm because I am cashed up and I am going to sit there and drink p**s in Ireland and have the best night of my life’, he said.

Unfortunately, the athlete’s night quickly devolved into chaos when he noticed a footy player had stuffed toilet paper inside another player’s trousers and set it alight.

The chaos ensued when one of Fevola’s drinking buddies who couldn’t handle his alcohol suddenly began vomiting all over the bar.

Meanwhile, his other drinking buddy attempted to extinguish the fire by ‘p***ing on it’, Fevola recalled.

Fevola begged the bartender, previously referred to as ‘Paul’, not to call the police and offered to pay for the damage out of pocket.

When Paul refused, the sportsman retaliated with physical aggression.

Galway police arrived at the nightspot and make Fevola apologise for his actions.

However, it wasn’t enough to stop Paul from later suing him, successfully, for $250,000.
