Britney Spears slams documentaries for focusing on ‘negative’ and ‘traumatizing’ times in her life

Britney Spears has slammed documentaries about her life as ‘hypocritical,’ taking them to task in a lengthy new Instagram in which she also called BS on claims she isn’t running her own social media.

Spears, 39, appeared to be pointing a finger at the much watched New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears and at the BBC’s The Battle For Britney: Fans, Cash And A Conservatorship.

Both productions detail the pop superstar’s mental health issues that ultimately led to her father Jamie obtaining control of her person and estate in a conservatorship 13 years ago as well as the media frenzy surrounding her very public breakdown.

In her Instagram post, Spears observed: ‘These documentaries are so hypocritical … they criticize the media and then do the same thing????? Damn …’

Two-faced: Britney Spears said that documentaries covering the most ‘negative and traumatizing parts of her life are ‘hypocritical’ for drudging up dark times while criticizing the media for doing the same

Her words: Spears, 39, appeared to be referring to the much watched New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears and a new piece by BBC called The Battle For Britney: Fans, Cash And A Conservatorship

The Toxic hitmaker posted her message Monday alongside a video showing her dancing in a sports top and shorts in the foyer of her suburban LA mansion.

Referring to the documentaries, she shared with fans that while the attention is ‘flattering’, she doesn’t enjoy having the most ‘negative and traumatizing’ parts of her life being revisited in this way.

‘So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life… what can I say … I’m deeply flattered !!!!’ she wrote.

Britney explained that while she’s endured a lot, she’s also enjoyed some ‘amazing times,’ things that don’t get focused on in the dramatic docs.

‘I don’t know y’all but I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life…’ she said.

‘I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life and unfortunately my friends … I think the world is more interested in the negative!!!!’

She added: ‘I mean … isn’t this supposed to be a business and society about THE FUTURE ???? Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago ???? I mean DAMN.’

The singer’s message comes as she prepares to address her conservatorship in court next month.

Britney also talked about the garden at her LA home in her lengthy post and declared she should be featured on the cover of Better Homes And Gardens magazine.

Then she concluded by addressing claims made by her former makeup artist Billy Brasfield that she doesn’t run her own social media.

‘PSSSS I don’t actually talk to Billy B AT ALL so I’m honestly very confused!!!’ she wrote. ‘This is my Instagram !!!!’

Brasfield was echoing claims made by many Britney fans worried about the star’s independence.

But Spears herself will speak out on the matter during a June 23rd ‘status hearing’ regarding her conservatorship under father Jamie Spears.

The hearing will be on June 23rd at 1:30pm PT at Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, the new BBC doc has offered bombshell reports that her dad Jamie claimed the pop star had dementia in conservatorship filings.

Documentary maker and journalist Mobeen Azhar has seen documents that show dementia may be the reason she has been living under strict legal constraints since 2008.

In The Battle For Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, Azhar acknowledged the dementia claim sounds ‘a bit out there’ and that he thought it was a ‘conspiracy theory’.

‘There are a couple of fan sites who said they have got hold of paperwork surrounding the conservatorship,’ Ahar said, according to the UK’s The Mirror.

‘You have to tick a box justifying the reason and the box that is ticked, it says: ‘The order is related to dementia placement or treatment as specified.”
