Bryan Cranston reveals that he remains close friends with Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul

Bryan Cranston has revealed that he remains close friends with his Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul.

The two actors starred in the AMC crime drama series as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman respectively, and Bryan has now revealed the pair are still close, despite the show coming to an end seven years ago.

‘For some reason Aaron and I really connected,’ Bryan, 64, told People in its latest issue out Friday.

Still friends: Bryan Cranston, shown in October 2019 in Los Angeles, has revealed that he remains close friends with his Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul

‘The storylines gave us opportunities to bond. And I was attracted to his character as a human being, which is really sound and remarkable. He’s a really good person. It’s not imperative that you form a relationship with your costars, but it makes things easier and better, like your in-laws!’

As well as being former co-stars, Bryan and Aaron, 41, also partnered on Dos Hombres, a mezcal brand they launched last year, which Bryan said the pair are ‘so excited’ about.

He added: ‘We’re so excited about it. We are learning so much. We have artisanal mezcal, old fashioned processing with no modern technology. The ingredients are smoked agave and water. It’s beautiful.’

And Bryan also spoke highly of Breaking Bad, as he said the series really ‘put him on the radar’ of producers and directors.

Speaking to People, he said: ‘It cracked open opportunity for me. It put me on the radar of established directors and producers who wanted to work with me. The road map of my career was clarified. [The show] was my great good fortune.’

Meanwhile, Bryan previously revealed he would reprise his Breaking Bad role in its spin-off show Better Call Saul ‘in a second’.

Earlier this year, he said: ‘I would be in it if Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, who are co-executive producers on it, wanted me to be in it. I would do it in a second. But it hasn’t happened yet, I can tell you, and we’ll see. I don’t know. There’s one more season to go, and we’ll see what happens.’

Bryan last week during a visit on The Ellen DeGeneres Show revealed that he still has yet to regain his full sense of taste and smell after becoming sick with COVID-19 in March.

The actor revealed in July on Instagram that he privately battled coronavirus in a post that featured a video of himself donating plasma to help others sickened by COVID-19.

Bryan currently stars in the legal drama series Your Honor that premiered December 6 on Showtime.
