Byron Baes: Ruby Tuesday Matthews’ best pal Saskia Wotton joins rumoured line-up

Meet your newest Byron Bae! Ruby Tuesday Matthews’ best pal Saskia Wotton joins the rumoured line-up – despite her BFF declining an offer and branding the show ’embarrassing’

Ruby Tuesday Matthews may have declined an offer to star on Netflix’s new show Byron Baes, but it looks like her best pal has done the total opposite.

Daily Mail Australia understands that her BFF Saskia Wotton is the latest star to join the show’s line-up, which will follow the lives of ‘artists, musicians, business owners and models’ who reside in the popular coastal town.

While residents worried that a show following ‘influencers’ might damage Byron’s reputation, Saskia has only racked up just under 7k followers on her Instagram page.

The blonde beauty is also an incredibly successful sales director at natural clothing brand Silk Laundry, a position she has held for over two years.

It’s clear from her Instagram page that she’s very good friends with Ruby, taking numerous photos with the popular influencer – who herself boasts a whopping 228,000 followers.

It appears Saskia also has a boyfriend, Dave Frim, but it’s not known if he will appear on the show.

Daily Mail Australia have contacted Netflix and Saskia for further comment.

Other rumoured castmates are ‘born and bred’ locals Kathy and Ralph Brauer – who own furniture and ladies fashion retailer Bisque – and Love Island’s Elias Chigros.

While Ruby, 26, could have been a fascinating addition to the cast, the mother-of-two recently made it clear she won’t be making an appearance.

Ruby posted a promotional image for Byron Baes on Instagram Stories, and wrote: ‘For everyone asking if I’ll be on this show, I declined the offer.’

‘Goodbye Byron, you are officially cooked. How embarrassing,’ she added.

Ruby also used the hashtag #ShireRepeat?, in reference to Channel 10’s short-lived 2012 reality show about the glamorous residents of Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

It comes after Netflix were recently forced to apologise to the stars of the show for painting them as ‘influencers’ and ‘hot Instagrammers’.

Netflix’s Director of Originals in Australia Que Minh Luu confirmed that cast ‘hated’ a recent PR post describing the upcoming series.

‘They are artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, business owners, models, on a spiritual journey and more,’ Que wrote to her 7k followers.

‘Most of them hated the press release too! Did a lot of apologising that week. Fired the PR team (lol joking about firing, we’re all learning together).’
