The couple shared their insecurities in a sneak peek from part two of the show’s Season Nine reunion, which airs on Tuesday.

In the clip, Tyler, 29, said the couple ‘still feel inferior’ to Carly’s adoptive parents because of their lack of power in the dynamic.

‘I don’t want it to come across like that, but at the end of the day, the reality is, I cannot get to Carly unless it’s going through Brandon and Teresa. Respectfully, that’s her parents, I agree with that,’ he told hosts Dr. Drew Pinsky and Nessa Diab.

He confessed that anxiety has gotten in his way of maintaining a relationship with the tween girl.

‘I’ll be honest, sometimes I don’t trust my own words. I don’t trust how I say things, I don’t trust myself and how I’m going to explain something and if that’s going to match up with how Brandon and Teresa really want her to get that information,’ he explained.

‘I feel like whatever happens, I have to kind of like filter through Brandon and Teresa first,’ he continued. ‘I don’t trust what I’m gonna say sometimes, it’s just very difficult to navigate and feel close in a relationship, when you have to second guess your approach and delivery all the time. It’s anxiety.’

The reality TV star added: ‘It’s also Brandon and Teresa’s responsibility to make us approaching them feel comfortable and feel safe for us. Me and Catelynn have talked about it many times, we’re almost 30 now and we still feel like this inferior position.’

The couple gave their daughter up for adoption days after her birth during the first season of 16 and Pregnant, as they were not even 18 at the time.

All feelings aside, they did express their ‘gratitude’ to the parents for giving Carly an incredible life.

‘The only thing I can say to Brandon and Teresa is thank you for giving my daughter the life that she has. She would not have anything if it wasn’t for them. I honestly have nothing to say to them but just gratitude,’ Baltierra said.

He went on: ‘I’m trying to navigate this relationship being in both pairs of shoes, but at the end of the day, I can’t change how I talk, I can’t change my delivery of things, I can’t change who I am or how I communicate. At the end of the day, we gotta like, balance.’

Catelynn previously said she and Teresa ‘text a lot’ but admitted the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic got in the way of any in-person meetings.

‘So, hopefully once COVID calms down or goes away, or people start getting vaccinated we can have a visit again, but we do stay in contact,’ she told TooFab in January.

The couple — who have since welcomed now six-year-old daughter Novalee and two-year-old Vaeda — were married in front of their Teen Mom friends on Aug. 22, 2015.

‘Nova and Carly FaceTimed not that long ago, so we try to just stay as much communication as we can, and as long as the girls can communicate, that’s the most important to me,’ continued Catelynn.

The media personalities were ridiculed for their decision by friends and family, but both have shared through the years that adoption was ‘one of the BEST things’ they could have done for the young girl.

Tragedy: During the show’s finale, she revealed she suffered another ‘heartbreaking’ miscarriage. Catelynn and Tyler had just told their families they were expecting another little one before complications arose with her pregnancy

‘I can’t believe that 9 years ago Tyler and I were waiting to go to the hospital to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives . . . but it ended up being one of the BEST things we could have done for her,’ Catelynn wrote on Instagram in May. ‘Carly we love you so much and are so proud of you! #birthdaygirl #adoptionjourney.’

During the show’s finale, she revealed she suffered another ‘heartbreaking’ miscarriage.

Catelynn and Tyler had just told their families they were expecting another little one before complications arose with her pregnancy.

‘So I woke up from a nap today and I was bleeding, so we miscarried this baby,’ she told cameras. ‘It’s hard, period. Anybody who has been through it knows how difficult and heartbreaking it is. It just sucks because we were really excited.’

The couple endured the difficult time in front of cameras and are now expecting once again as Catelynn is in her third trimester with a little girl due this summer.
