Celebs Go Dating contestant Carla, 31, says she refused to turn Wayne Lineker, 58, down on camera

A Celebs Go Dating contestant has claimed producers encouraged her to turn down Wayne Lineker on camera, but she refused because it was a ‘bit mean’.

During the E4 series, Carla Jade, 31, caught the attention of Wayne, 58, when she entered the mansion but soon spurred his advances.

Now in an interview with the Metro, Carla has said she it was ‘obvious’ she didn’t want to pursue a romance with Wayne and branded Curtis Pritchard a ‘little snake’ for telling the businessman she wasn’t interested when she refused to film scenes turning him down.

‘It was obvious I didn’t share the same attraction’! A Celebs Go Dating contestant has claimed producers told her to turn down Wayne Lineker on camera but she refused

‘I think it was quite obvious that I didn’t share the same attraction with Wayne, so production said “If you don’t like him you need to tell him” and I thought “That’s a bit mean, it’s quite obvious and he’s fine so can we not?”, she said.

Carla claimed producers were persistent on asking her to film the scenes but said she came up with the excuse she was ‘too shy’.

She continued: ‘A couple of minutes later they said, “Curtis wants a chat with you”,’ and then halfway through that he was like “Do you like Wayne?” and I just said “No I don’t think we are well suited”.

‘He then literally runs, and I don’t realise this until the show had aired, into the bedroom and the little snake tells Wayne.’

Carla said she didn’t realise why Curtis ran straight into Wayne’s room but was annoyed to discover the reason when the show aired.

MailOnline has contacted Celebs Go Dating for comment.

Wayne had declared he found Carla the most attractive in a getting-to-know-you session after the first mixer.

But in a chat with Curtis, Carla admitted Wayne wasn’t what she was after.

Love Island’s Curtis then took it upon himself to inform Wayne this, who did his best to hide his disappointment.

In brutal scenes, Curtis sat Wayne down and told Gary Lineker’s brother: ‘Yeah, she’s really not feeling it.’

‘Is she not?’ Wayne asked, clearly disappointed.

He had also spoken to another would-be suitor, Hannah, leaving her crestfallen when he admitted earlier in the show that he had his eye on Carla.

Wayne admitted he could at least move on to others, knowing that Carla wasn’t interested in it, but appeared to be saving face.

Fans reacted to this on Twitter, with one remarking: ‘Curtis [is] finishing off Wayne!’

Another fuming fan tweeted: ‘Curtis you’re gossiping! It’s not your place to tell Wayne. You did this in Love Island!’

'Have you got a KNIFE?' Wayne perhaps made the wrong impression during the debut episode of the series when he asked Carla if she had a knife

‘I Iike Carla, admitting out loud that Wayne’s too old for her!’ another posted.

A fourth viewer penned: ‘Love Curtis shading Wayne!’

Wayne – who has made no secret of his desire to date a woman decades younger than him – perhaps made the wrong impression during the debut episode of the series when he asked Carla if she had a knife.

Wayne then began peering around, leaving her to look on, panicked. He eventually explained he wanted to hold up said knife so he could look into it like a mirror.

Viewers weren’t left too impressed with the club owner’s flirting game, hitting Twitter to remark on the ‘creepy’ and ‘cringe’ behaviour.

‘Wayne Lineker on Celebs go dating is definitely the most cringe thing I’ve ever witnessed!’ one person remarked.

Another posted: ‘Who knew Wayne Lineker would have absolutely zero chat!’

‘Wayne Lineker reminds me of that creepy guy in a pub who blows kisses at you across the bar,’ came another remark.
