Cheer star Jerry Harris set to join Dancing With The Stars months after appearing on Netflix show

Cheer star Jerry Harris is set to join the new line-up of Dancing With The Stars, DailyMail.com has exclusively learned.

An insider reveals the 20-year-old will compete alongside The Bachelorette’s Kaitlyn Bristowe, who is so far the only star that has been confirmed for Season 29 of the show.

DailyMail.com has reached out to ABC for comment, who responded to say they do not comment on casting rumors.

In July, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Tyra Banks would officially be taking over as the main host of the show, replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.

Meanwhile, Jerry has found a huge fanbase after appearing on the hit Netflix documentary series about cheerleaders, and has already got a co-sign of support from DWTS professional Jenna Johnson, who said he would be ‘fabulous’ on the series.

One of the breakout stars of Cheer, Jerry, 20, captured the hearts of America when revealing the personal hardships he’s faced, including his mother passing away when he was just 16 years old.

Jerry credited his ‘cheer family’ with helping him get through the painful experience of losing his mother to lung cancer, and despite it all, managed to inspire his team mates with his infectious energy and positive outlook on life.

In June, Jerry told Variety that he believed his late mom has been watching over him and is ‘very happy and excited’ for everything he’s achieved since appearing on the show.

He also spoke about being an inspiration to his LGBTQ+ community, saying: ‘I want to be someone that’s fearless, that’s confident to others, and that’s confident to themselves and believes in themselves, and just to tell them you can be who you want to be, and you can be who you are, because you are perfect and you are enough for anyone.’

In March this year, DWTS professional Jenna  – who is married to Val Chmerkovskiy – said in an interview that he would love for Jerry to join the show.

‘[Jerry] would be fabulous,’ Johnson, 25, told PEOPLE. ‘And even meeting him, he’s so genuine and so positive and you can tell that people navigate toward him because he has this great energy about him. I think he would be amazing.’

There is set to be a bit of a shake-up on this season of DWTS, which sees Tyra Banks take over from Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the main host on the show.

The Bachelorette’s Kaitlyn Bristowe is one of the only confirmed contestants so far, who has been dropping some not so subtle hints on her Instagram lately.

Chris Harrison surprised Kaitlyn with the news during her episode of The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever! in June.

The reality star then posted a snap of her showing off her abs, revealing that she had already begun training: ‘My body at 35 feels strong and ready to dance.’

Last December, Rob Mills, ABC Entertainment’s senior VP of alternative series said they were also trying to get Charlie Sheen on board once again.

He also revealed that they are going after Christie Brinkley again, after she signed on for season 28 but had to pull out after breaking her wrist days before the premiere and was replaced by her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is also said to be a hot contender, after he was left nearly paralyzed in 2017, but has since learned how to walk again after spine surgery.

The last two seasons of the show has seen some big celeb draws – particularly in terms of controversy – with contestants including former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, Khloe Kardashian’s ex Lamar Odom, and Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek.

Despite all the speculation about the show, it has yet to be given a specific air date, though rehearsals are rumored to start next month.
