Chelsea Handler put her own spin on the ‘how it started vs. how it’s going’ meme to promote her HBO Max comedy special Chelsea Handler: Evolution.

The 45-year-old comedienne shared a throwback snap from her at a beauty contest as a teenager, and the promo poster for her special, which debuted in October.

The actress and comedian teased she was wearing two very different ‘crowns’ at both stages in her life shown in the photos.

The special features Handler sharing, ‘hilarious experiences about her family, friendships, and her first foray into therapy—where she was able to unearth why everyone on this planet annoyed her so much.’

‘She has always been a trusted voice and has provided much needed perspective for the world. Now, she turns the attention on herself, reflecting on her personal journey toward self-awareness, assisted by her reliable companion – cannabis,’ the description concluded.

Handler is a New Jersey native who moved to Los Angeles when she was just 19 to pursue a career in entertainment.

She pursued a career in stand-up comedy while starring on Oxygen’s hidden camera reality series Girls Behaving Badly from 2002 to 2005.

She also guest starred on a number of shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, My Wife and Kids and The Practice. 

She got her own show The Chelsea Handler Show on E! starting in 2006 and would go on to guest host The View in 2007 and the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

She was just the second woman to host the iconic VMAs since Roseanne Barr back in 1994.

Last month, Handler opened up about her ‘outrage’ over President Donald Trump, which stemmed from the death of her brother when she was just 9 years old.

She told supermodel and podcast host Naomi Campbell that her grief over his death lead her to, ‘never trust men.’

She also opened up about turning to cannabis after Trump was elected president, adding, ‘Cannabis got legal in California I was like alright let’s get this s**t on the road, and that was my gateway drug to meditation and sitting still and not bouncing off the walls all the time.’
