‘He’s doing so much better. We’re so happy and relieved. ‘

She added: ‘A massive thank you to the doctors and nurses who saved his life.

‘Mum’s so happy to have dad home.’

Earlier this month the songstress shared the devastating news that Darren had become ‘seriously unwell’ and was hospitalised.

The X Factor star previously said she feared for her dad’s health after he had been hospitalised twice during the coronavirus lockdown.

Cher told her followers her father was back in hospital and thanked the NHS staff for taking care of him during this ‘scary time’.

Apologising for her absence on Instagram, Cher explained: ‘Hi everyone, I’m sorry I’ve been quiet on here – I find it difficult to share my personal life at the best of times but I feel I need to let you know what’s going on.

She continued: ‘My dad has been seriously unwell and is in hospital. This has been really difficult on us and my head’s all over the place.

‘I wish I could see him, and I wish I could be with my family to support them, especially mum.’

Thanking the staff who have been taking care of her dad, Cher said: ‘We can’t be with dad but I’m so grateful to the doctors and nurses for looking after him. This is such a scary time for everyone, I hope you are keeping safe.’

She signed off by saying she will be taking some time away from Instagram: ‘While i take a bit of time to focus on my family over this difficult period, my team will be taking over key posts for me so we can keep you updated on all things Lost.’

Last month, when asked about how she is finding lockdown, the X Factor star told House of Solo: ‘I think the biggest thing is not being able to see family. I miss my mum and dad a lot. Before the lockdown I spent a lot of time with them.

‘My dad hasn’t been well for a long time and the idea of not being able to be close is a really scary thought.

‘He’s actually been in hospital twice during the lockdown with his pre-existing conditions and every single time I get the phone call, I ask myself: ‘Is this going to be because of his pre-existing condition or is this going to be the call that I’m dreading?”

Cher, who was catapulted to fame in 2010 when she finished fourth in the X Factor, is in lockdown with her husband Craig Monk and daughter Delilah-Rae.

The popstar said: ‘It’s really good to be able to spend some quality time with my family, just us. Normally I’m here, there and everywhere, he’s [Craig] always busy so right now we’re just enjoying getting to spend every moment possible with our little girl.

‘We’ve seen her grow up really quickly in the last couple of weeks, she’s nearly two, and I feel like this is the best time, when they’re so young and coming out with such funny little things!’

The mother-of-one, who released her new single Lost on Friday, also talked about what she decides to share on her social media channels.

Cher said the intense scrutiny at the start of her career when she was only 16 has made her more guarded.

Cher said: ‘I’ve never been that fantastic with sharing ‘me’ at home, and that stems from me having a bit of a c****y time with it at the beginning.

‘Because of that I’ve always had this big guard up, so it will take a bit of time for me to feel comfortable clicking on Instagram live and going: ‘hey guys, wassap!’.’

And the singer also took issue with celebrities showcasing their privilege while many are suffering during the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: ‘There’s also the other thing of people showing off what they’ve got right now, and I’m not really one for doing that. I think there’s something quite cringey about it.

‘I’ve seen a few things of people saying: ‘stay indoors we’ll get through this’, but in the background there’s a massive pool, and you just think, ‘oh be quiet!’. In the nicest possible way! I just think some people need a bit more awareness!’
