Chris Martin rocks a blue T-shirt while filming a new music video in Malibu… after Coldplay beamed its last video up to the International Space Station

His band Coldplay sent its newest single Higher Power into space for it to be broadcast back to Earth via satellite link.

But Chris Martin seemed to be engaged in a purely terrestrial affair on Friday when he was spotted filming a new music video in Malibu.

The 44-year-old Coldplay frontman looked youthful and fit in a tight-fitting blue-and purple T-shirt during some downtime on the outdoor set.

Chris kept the rest of his look low key with a pair of black jeans and black trainers, though he added some more color with hot pink laces.

He appeared to be in a wooded part of coastal Malibu, where the film crew had set up shop.

Several crew members were conferencing behind a white food truck, though it wasn’t clear if it was part of the music video or just there to feed everyone on set.

Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, multiple people were spotted chatting maskless.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidelines late last month to say that fully vaccinated people can now remove their masks outdoors in most circumstances, though its recommended they keep on on at large gatherings like a concert or a protest.

Unvaccinated people can also go outdoors without masks on, though it’s recommended they put them on when nearby other unvaccinated people.

It wasn’t clear if the music video was for an upcoming Coldplay single or if it was a solo project for Chris.

He serves as the lead singer for Coldplay, while also supplying additional guitars and keyboards for the group.

The band’s modest video showed them performing while surrounded by shipping containers, with digitally superimposed extraterrestrials added in.

The footage was then sent up to the International Space Station, where it was intercepted by French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, 43.

The aerospace engineer then sent the video back across the globe via a satellite link at midnight.

Back in 2019, Chris told the BBC that Coldplay would not tour behind its 2019 album Everyday Life while the band came up with a plan to tour more sustainably and to eliminate its carbon footprint.

Skipping out on his music video shoot was Chris’ girlfriend Dakota Johnson.

The couple have been together since October 2017, though they were reported to have briefly split in the summer of 2019 before reuniting shortly afterward.

The singer–songwriter was previously married to Gwyneth Paltrow in 2003, before they decided to ‘consciously uncouple’ in 2014.
