Cole Sprouse does not think The Suite Life of Zack and Cody should be rebooted

While there are no plans in the works to reboot the hit Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, star Cole Sprouse is not pleased with the prospect.

Sprouse, 27, who starred in the hit show with his twin brother Dylan Sprouse, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, when he was asked about The Suite Life, which aired from 2005 to 2008.

With the show celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Sprouse was asked why it’s still such an enduring hit, and why he doesn’t think it should be rebooted.

‘I’ve had the privilege of being a part of a lot of fun TV shows when I was younger that kind of became cult classics or fan favorites like Suite Life or Friends, and there’s always that question that pops up. You know, there’s always that, “When are you going to go back?” or “When are you going to renew it?” But I don’t think it should be done if I’m being honest,’ Sprouse began.

‘I think it’s really incendiary. There’s a huge potential to kind of demolish that perfect little golden memory of a program if you go back and you revive it,’ Sprouse added.

“Look, I’m not the biggest fan of the sequel and the spin-off thing. I think also, if enough time elapses, everyone who comes back to a program like that, doesn’t… they’re not really in the same head space, so they’re trying to capture the same feeling that it was in at least my childhood,’ he continued.

Sprouse added rebooting that show would be particularly weird  because there aren’t many shows that are, ‘four-camera, live audience and filming in Hollywood.’

Still, Sprouse would be open to some sort of reboot, adding, ‘I think it would be enjoyable to find a way to do it that has a lot of respect and captures the feeling that people are actually desiring from that. But I don’t know, I think it can be quite incendiary.’

When Fallon asked why people are so ‘obsessed’ with The Suite Life, Sprouse thinks the anniversary has something to do with it.

‘It’s the 15 year anniversary of it, and it’s interesting. The way I remember a lot of those kid shows, they sort of fit within this golden nostalgic little bubble,’ Sprouse said.

‘There’s always this tendency to glorify the things that we grew up with, especially the programming we grew up with, and I think, thankfully, our show has held the test of time. I think the audience has revived a bit in a couple of places, I think it was on Disney Plus,’ he added.

The show ran three seasons and lead to the spin-off Suite Life on Deck, where the twins and London enroll in a semester at sea program.
