Converted farmhouse goes up for sale for £1.65m

A sprawling farmhouse that is connected to a three-storey silos conversion and is surrounded by rolling countryside views has hit the market for £1.65million.

The unique property, which sits on Church Road, in the idyllic village of Bildeston, Ipswich, comes with four bedrooms within the barn, five bathrooms, an oak study room and its very own gym area.

Sitting just a stone’s throw away from the historical St Mary Magdalene church, the country home is connected to two three-storey silos which have been converted into living accommodation and are joined to the main building via a walkway on the first floor.

The silos, which are linked together by a communal hall and landing, boast an additional bedroom and bathroom space alongside an en-suite.

The owner of the property said: ‘My aim was to provide a comfortable, spacious home bringing together some traditional barn features with a more modern twist.

‘I was greatly helped by an imaginative builder and was able to considerably influence the design as the property was purchased before development started.

‘We were able to keep the steel frame but in all other respects it was a new build, the barn itself being completed in about August 2018.

‘Probably the most unique feature is the conversion of the two silos into living accommodation.

‘To the best of my knowledge this was a first and allowed us to create some additional living space, turning a more standard 4 bedroomed barn into something more individual and offering a variety of possible uses of the significant extra space. The silos were completed one year ago. ‘
