David Beckham ‘wins dispute with neighbours over plans to boost security at £6m Cotswolds home… as wife Victoria prepares to sue builders over mirrored roof’

David Beckham has reportedly won his dispute with neighbours over plans to build a security gatehouse on the land of their £6m Cotswolds home.

Sources claimed that neighbours who complained the build will ‘ruin the ambience’ of the Oxfordshire property have now withdrawn their official complaint, meaning work on the gatehouse can go ahead.

It comes amid claims that David’s wife Victoria is also planning to take legal action against a building firm over a mirrored ceiling built at her flagship fashion boutique in London.

According to The Sun, one neighbour lodged an official complaint about plans for the Beckhams to build a new property so they can have 24-hour security at their second home.

One local reportedly complained: ‘Farms and agricultural buildings do not have gatehouses and security huts.’

However this complaint has now been withdrawn, meaning the Beckhams can go ahead with building.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Victoria Beckham for comment. A representative for David declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

David had submitted plans to increase security with a gatehouse manned by 24-hour guards and an underground getaway tunnel.

His proposed security measures come as several footballers ramp up security at their homes, including Spurs midfielder Dele Alli, 24, who was held at knifepoint with his girlfriend Ruby Mae, 21, at his house in Hertfordshire last month.

They applied to West Oxfordshire District Council for permission to build a gatehouse to ‘improve security for occupants’ at the mansion and surrounding grounds.

In the application it states two existing employees will work on the site full-time.

The Daily Star also reported that these two members of staff are security guards who will man the security hut 24 hours a day.

Also included in the ex-England captain’s plans is an underground getaway tunnel which provides access from the main building to a proposed wine cellar under the existing garage.

The application is currently under review by councillors and a decision will be given in the coming weeks.

It was also reported on Saturday that Victoria is planning to sue a building company for £1 million over work done on a mirrored ceiling in her London fashion boutique.

According to The Sun, builders installed a flat ceiling in accordance with Victoria’s requirements, but in 2017 the ceiling came crashing down after the heating was turned on to dry plaster, leaving it a ‘waved effect’

The publication stated that Victoria’s lawyers accuse building firm NJ Richards of negligence and breaching duty, and has demanded £607,000 to replace the broken ceiling panels, along with £200,000 in lost profits and £15,000 of ‘professional fees.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Victoria Beckham and NJ Richards for further comment.

Victoria and David have been spending lockdown in their Cotswolds home with three of their children, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight.

Eldest son Brooklyn, 21, has spent lockdown in Los Angeles with girlfriend Nicola Peltz, 25, at her family’s multi-million dollar mansion.
