Demi Moore dons a blonde wig in the new trailer for Peacock’s utopian series Brave New World

Peacock, the new NBCUniversal streaming network, dropped the official trailer for its upcoming sci-fi drama, Brave New World, on Thursday.

The series is based on the 1932 novel of the same name by British author Aldous Huxley and stars Demi Moore, Alden Ehrenreich, Jessica Brown Findlay, Harry Lloyd and Hannah John-Kamen.

The trailer gives fans a look at Huxley’s utopian society, New London, where every single person is happy and interconnected with the others – or so it seems.

Set to the soothing psychedelic 1969 hit Daydream by the Wallace Collection, the trailer begins by introducing the viewer to New London – a society seemingly sanitized from dismay.

‘This is New London, everyone’s happy here,’ a voice says from off camera. ‘Everyone has a place, there is no hunger, no violence.’

Shots of smiling, happy residents flash on screen from across New London, along with what appear to be small pill capsules filled with whatever causes the people to live in chemical induced bliss.

‘There’s no pain there, John, everyone fits. I’ve always wanted that for you,’ Demi Moore says to John the Savage.

The 57-year-old rocks a frizzy blonde wig in the series, where she plays recurring character Linda.

In the series, John the Savage meets two people from the New World, Bernard and Lenina, while they are visiting the Savage Lands. When he rescues the pair during a conflict he ended up going with them into New London.

He’s instructed multiple times in the trailer just to ’embrace’ New London and ‘let it be wonderful.’

Welcome: John is instructed multiple times in the trailer just to 'embrace' New London and 'let it be wonderful.'

John joins what looks like an orientation with other newcomers to the area and the group is given capsules to take and then is instructed ‘to connect.’

All the people are ‘connected’ to one another in New London and it seems to happen through the insertion of a terrifying looking contact lens with a stringy tentacle attached that looks to pierce the eye.

The music then switches from the hypnotic melody of Daydream to an ominous instrumental hinting that all is not what it seems in this artificial Eden.

‘You know I’ve been watching you people,’ John says. ‘If this place is so perfect, why is it upside down?’

The carefully controlled bliss in New London appears to break down late in the trailer- a ‘virus’ one character calls it.

‘We need to stop this before this goes too far,’ says Mustafa Mond (Nina Sosanya), a higher up in New London.

The idea of turning Huxley’s novel into a series had been kicking around for years, with Syfy and Amblin TV originally developing it in 2015, according to Deadline.

The series ‘imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself,’ the outlet writes.
