Dick Wolf fires writer working on his upcoming Law & Order spin-off after controversial post regarding civil unrest comes to light

A writer-producer working on Dick Wolf’s upcoming Law & Order spin-off series has been fired after making a controversial statement regarding the civil unrest in Los Angles on social media.

Craig Gore was dropped from the new ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ series on Tuesday after his social media posts emerged showing him wielding a gun and threatening to ‘light motherf**kers up’ who approached his Los Angeles property.

Shortly after the posts came to light, Wolf, the 73-year-old franchise creator, dismissed Gore from his position and condemned his message.

‘I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief. I am terminating Craig Gore immediately,’ Wolf said in a statement.

In the photo, Gore wore a black bandanna over his face as he stood outside of his front door with the gun in hand.

He posted the photo onto his Facebook account, where he referenced the curfews put in place in Los Angeles with the simple caption, ‘Curfew…’

As friends began chiming in on the post, Gore continued his sentiment in the comments section.

‘Sunset is being looted two blocks from me. You think I wont light motherf**kers up who are trying to fuck w/my property I worked all my life for? Think again…’ he wrote.

The posts were subsequently brought to the attention of Law & Order star Chris Meloni, who said he didn’t know who Gore was.

‘Truth: Matt Olmstead is my Showrunner. I have gotten no word on ANY hirings. I have no idea who this person is or what they do,’ Chris replied on Twitter on Tuesday.

Just a few hours later, Wolf Entertainment announced they had terminated Gore.

Gore was set to work on the upcoming series starring Meloni, Law & Order: Organized Crime, as a writer and producer, according to Deadline.

Other credits include working as an executive producer and writer on Chicago P.D. and S.W.A.T., whose writing room released a statement regarding the protests sparked by the death of George Floyd.

‘When S.W.A.T. began three years ago on CBS, as writers we examined the intersection of black communities and law enforcement through the eyes of Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson, an African-American cop who has one foot firmly planted in each world,’ they wrote on Twitter on Monday.

‘Since then we have continued to tell stories that have explored themes of race and policing in minority communities. We also asked questions about what is required to build trust and bridge these two worlds. We are watching recent events in horror and sadness along with everyone else and will continue to mine the truth about these issues in the writing of our upcoming season as we all work towards a fairer, better system.

‘In the meantime, we encourage protestors to express their frustrations peacefully and implore law enforcement to deescalate conflicts, not exacerbate them, as people work through their understandable anger and grief.’
