Disney Plus UK: Hamilton movie and Frozen 2 released today

The hotly anticipated Hamilton film and eagerly-awaited Frozen 2 have officially been released on Disney Plus today.

The Hamilton movie was initially set to debut on October 15 2021, but now the filmed version of the original Broadway production will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ beginning this July 3 2020.

For those who haven’t been able to experience the Broadway show in person, this is a fantastic opportunity to see Hamilton for the first time.

Disney’s biggest movie of all time, Frozen 2, is also arriving on Disney Plus UK today, a whole two weeks earlier than anticipated, just in time to enjoy over the summer holidays.

Hamilton, which is an 11-time Tony Award, Grammy Award, Olivier Award, and Pulitzer Prize-winning stage musical, tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. It was filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June 2016.

It features Tony Award winners Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler and Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr. 

The man himself, Lin Manuel Miranda, announced the Hamilton film premiere timing on Twitter. He wrote: ‘1. I know this now! It’s midnight July 3 PST, so that’s 3a, for us in NY and east coast, do the math til your time zone. 2. Not just one day. 3. You will just have it. For as many times as you like, right next to A Goofy Movie and Talespin and An Extremely Goofy Movie…’

Also launching on Disney+ today is Frozen 2. The 2019 film follows Elsa, together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, on a remarkable and inspiring journey into the unknown to discover the source of her magical powers and save the kingdom of Arendelle. 

The Disney movie will also accompany its predecessor movie Frozen, Into The Unknown: Making Frozen 2, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Frozen Fever and Lego Disney Frozen – Northern Lights.

Muppets Now also premieres July 31. The six-episode season sees Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang cut loose with startling silliness and heartfelt fun, and is packed with surprising guest stars.
