Many of the details of the public memorial are still being worked out, which includes the ticketing system and how many people will be permitted inside the arena.

With COVID-19 still a danger, and health and safety protocols still in place, there will be limited capacity for the memorial inside Barclays Center.

The arena seats 17,732 for basketball; 15,795 for hockey; and up to 19,000 seats for concerts.

Currently, New York State’s COVID-19 guidelines allow up to 20 percent of those seating capacity numbers.

Earlier this week, TMZ reported the city of Yonkers, where the rapper grew up, is planning a lasting gesture of respect — and are considering whether erect of statue in his honor or possibly name a street after him.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano also revealed he was open to the idea of DMX’s family holding a memorial service at Yonkers Raceway, the largest outdoor venue in the rapper’s home city. It has a seating capacity of 7,500, but again, COVID-19 protocols would limit it to 20 percent.

So far, no one has solidified any plans for a DMX memorial at the raceway.
