An adorable dog has made a miraculous recovery after being rescued from a butcher who almost killed her.
Sarah, a two-year-old small spitz, was rescued from a Chinese dog meat market in April, last year, where she lived in horrible conditions.
The poor pooch nearly died after a butcher cut her throat but in a fantastic story of survival is now living her best life, waiting for a loving family to adopt her.
Sarah was in a gutter searching for water when she was discovered by animal charity workers who rescued her with a life-threatening cut across her throat and one of her eyes smashed in.

She was malnourished and could barely walk, and the odds of her surviving the injuries were very low.
But Sarah is a fighter.
‘Sarah could barely walk, and it was hard to approach her but the team carefully coaxed her with food and took her to safety,’ said Julia de Cadenet, CEO at NoToDogMeat.
‘When we got her to the vet we discovered the horrific extent of her injuries.
‘A butcher had slashed her throat, and it was infected.
‘She was so small and fragile that when we removed her fur to access the injuries, she was screaming in terror and pain.’

Understandably, she was terrified of the humans trying to help her but eventually began trusting them.
Julia said: ‘She had so much trauma and bruising to her head and brain.
‘Still, the little thing clung on until finally we brought her back to our small Beijing base run by our teenage volunteer Anna and she slowly tentatively met the other dogs.
She is due to be re-homed but the coronavirus pandemic has severely impacted the charity’s work.
‘She still had a fear of humans but one of our workers could pick her up and hug her.’
Thankfully, adorable Sarah has now fully recovered after being nursed back to health.

This has led to a large amount of dogs being cared for at the shelter and being housed there for longer than usual until travel restrictions are lifted.
