Dominic West’s wife Catherine FitzGerald wants to move to Ireland

Dominic West’s wife Catherine FitzGerald has revealed she is trying to convince the actor to move to her family seat in Ireland months after their marriage was rocked by scandal.

Catherine, 49, told Tatler she would like to live full-time at Glin Castle, which sits on a 400-acre estate in Co Limerick.

The castle has been in Catherine’s family for 700 years and has famously played host to Taylor Swift, Sir Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull.

Catherine and Dominic – who made headlines last year when he was seen with co-star Lily James, 31, in Rome – also have a home in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

‘I can’t persuade Dominic to move their altogether yet, but I’m working on it,’ Catherine told the magazine.

The landscape gardener is the eldest child of Desmond FitzGerald, the 29th Knight of Glin, who died in 2011 with no son to inherit his title.

‘The title can skip a generation and my son [Senan, 12] could be the next Knight of Glin,’ Catherine explained. ‘But he’s just mad into football.’

Dominic, 51, and Catherine put on a united front at the castle over Christmas, two months after the actor and co-star Lily made headlines in Rome.

He and Catherine posed alongside their four children Dora, 13, Senan, 12, Francis, 11, and Christabel, seven, in a family photo taken in the grounds of the castle that was later shared on social media.

The married couple did not stand next to one another in the image and were separated by their offspring.

Dominic is also a father to daughter Martha, 21, from his relationship with Polly Astor.

Catherine later shared a photo of herself dressed up for a festive evening at the stunning family estate.

Catherine told Tatler that she is waiting to see if one of her children will want to take over the running of the property one day.

In October, Dominic and Lily made headlines when they were photographed sharing intimate moments on a trip to Rome.

As well as meeting their mutual acting agent, they were spotted sharing a scooter ride and in a clinch over lunch.

After they  returned to the UK, Catherine insisted she and Dominic were ‘very much still together’, and the couple shared a kiss for the world’s media outside their home in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Dominic and his wife kissed for the cameras outside their home and wrote a note that read: ‘Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.’

Catherine broke her silence to assure MailOnline that her marriage is ‘fine’, as friends confirmed she was determined to make her marriage work and avoid a divorce.

She told a reporter: ‘We’re fine, thank you very much, yes we are. Things are OK between us. We don’t need any advice from anyone, thank you.’

West and Catherine married in June 2010 after reuniting following their university romance.
