The cameraman, who asked to remain anonymous, said: ‘In front of the car ahead of me I noticed an unmarked police car with blue lights flashing.

‘Further ahead, another police car was entering the main road from a side road on the opposite side. I slowed down further unsure what was going on.’

It was then that the BMW swerved over to the opposite side of the road, and the Jaguar mounted the pavement in an apparent attempt to escape police.

‘Just as the Jaguar driver corrected the car to rejoin the road he smashed full speed into the post set in the pavement concrete,’ he said. ‘Almost straight away the driver jumped out in an attempt to run away.

‘He stumbled, then I heard the police shouting at him to get down and get on the floor. They had all jumped out of their vehicles.’

The motorist, 37, added he noticed one of the police officers had a taser aimed at the Jaguar driver, who threw his hands up in surrender.

‘The officer with the taser fired at him a split second later and multiple officers descended on the driver. At that point I drove away,’ he said.
